The JP picks work good for me. They also have JP triangle picks which i find good. Off topic but man your tone is amazing and i can hear all the separate notes when u play the big chords. Maybe we can have a tutorial on how you approach dialing in a tone for rhythm and lead using either a real amp or a plugin?

I use Dunlop Purple (1.14) Tortex, nothing else comes close to that feel, you can really dig into solo with it.

I love picks above 1.2mm - so I hear you on this!!

Checked out the band on your shirt. I'm two songs into the cosmic warfare album and I'm an instant fan. Thanks? I know that this is an unintentional side effect of this video, but, yeah, thanks!

I've been using the Jim Dunlop Ultex Sharp 1.14mm for a little while now. I saw Brendon Small and Temmu from Wintersun use them. Fell in love with them instantly. It was ultimately Jeff Loomis that got me into using sharp pointed picks and I can see why. The attack on the strings is just soooooooo good.

When the attack is good, that's it! That's just _IT_!

The Ibanez JTC are my current go-to. I killed my Flows 2.0 within 2 days sespite being made of Ultex and being 2.0 mm, so I am currently going for durability. The Ibanez have already survived a weekend without any scratches. Even Tortex Jazz III last me longer than black Ultex. Could it be that the classic yellow Ultex has a different molding process? Even the 1.38 seems more durable than the Petrucci or Flows. The Swiss picks and Chicken Picks are next on my shopping list

I have used Jazz III XL, Petrucci´s and Swiss picks (1.3 mm) and in my opinion, Swiss picks are number 1. It´s like combining the playability of a jazz III but with better grip.

The grip of the swiss picks is undeniable, and I still swear by them! Very good point - playability AND GRIPPY!

Nice vid, think i like that ibanez the most atleast for your hand (the thinner one), idk how it would feel for me of course :p i used daddario black ice pick 0.8 for the longest time and really liked them the most, recently switched to the tortex dunlop 1mm and im completely satisfied in every way i think.. oddly enough, never enjoyed the JP pick
@PaulOuzounov5 ай бұрын
I think the thinner one is stellar - I've been picking around with it some more and it's a very very close battle between thoes two Ibanez ones!! I gotta try the black ice! I think my friend Matt recommended them to me once... Tortex's are a classic for a reason!

I also go between quite a few picks. Been using the Ibanez Elastomer pics quite a bit, they're made from a type of rubber. Different when you first try them but I enjoy using them. I also like the Dunlop Tortex Jazz 3 XL, Planet Waves Blacke Ice 1.5mm and sometimes even A standard Tortex 88 or the Ibanez Steve Vai picks which are similar.

Elastomer?! What the heck?! I gotta try these out!! And there are VAI PICKS? What the hell man - I'm living under a rock!

Sick vid Paul. Are you still using your winspears? Im off and on with them. Still dig my mini shivs though
@PaulOuzounov5 ай бұрын
I use em when I find them! I moved around a lot recently and some of my stuff has gone missing. I know a lot of people who still love them a lot, and I'm flattered, but Mr. Tom Winspear gets 150% of the credit. He's a genius!

Sounds great as always, PAWL. If you can, try out the antagonist by BHL in t2-n or whatever it's called. Thick pick without the chirp. Really great if you like that kind of thing.

had to add: your tone (finger tone/touch) is just spectaculoso
