I couldn't find the Jazz III XL at the music store. Saw the Flow picks that looked similar in size and shape. Got the .88mm in Tortex and Ultex. The pick that you have is made of the Ultex plastic. Should be more durable than the Tortex or Delrin picks.

They are great picks, but they are as durable as paper with my picking style. A 2.00 mm Flow tip lasts ~a weekend. The non-yellow Ultex seems to be cheaper or less solid. The other dark Ultex picks like the John Petrucci models also don't last long, while a yellow Ultex may start to bevel or become round after 2-3 months, in my experience of course. Quite a difference, which also makes no sense since the yellow models are generally a bit less expensive. Love the Flow as long as it has a pointy tip though! It's like a Jazz III 2.0 in that it's generally more comfortable and versatile thanks to the added length

Been using Jazz III's for 10 years. The max grip ones for the last 5. It's a good pick, but I've been increasingly frustrated by what feels like the pick fighting me when trying to play faster riffs or runs. I also struggle with stamina and making it seem effortless. I never even conceived until very recently that the pick might be holding me back. After a bit of research I decided to order the Flow Gloss 2.0. A pack arrives tomorrow, and I'm actually excited to try a pick. Planning on giving it at least a month of playing to see if my playing improves.

@@nihilist92 You asked for an update. Been using them for about a month now and I couldn't be happier. It took some time to get used to the pick and I almost gave up on it after a weeks time, but I stuck with my 1 month plan and I'm so glad I did. Started to click 2 weeks in and I understand now what you and others meant. I had no idea a pick change could solve so many problems.

@@MikaelLV Hey - Im so glad these have worked out for you! I knew instantly that they were going to be a big change and at first I really didnt want to disrupt what I had going and basicaly start over AGAIN. But like you I stuck at it and have never gone back. I hope you continue to enjoy using them and that they continue to bring the best out in your playing!

I have to admit man I can already see the difference. I'm really glad I was able to turn you on to a different piece of gear to amp up your skill. It's good to see your wrists being less fatigued too. Pinches take a bit of time to get there with them. But I think you can understand best now why they have been my go to picks for 6 years

I used the green Dunlop .94 nylon standard for over 30 years, I never really thought about changing picks until about 3 years ago. I switched to a Jazz 3 for about 2 years and noticed an increase in speed in my playing but it was too "thin" sounding on the strings for my liking, I used EB Everlast .88 for a few months and i liked the thicker scratchy sound on the strings but the tip was too round and it slowed me down a little bit, then I started using the Dunlop flow 1.5, it has the pointy tip for faster playing and the thicker scratchy sound I like and I get the chug that you would get from a rounder tip, its the perfect pick for me.I also have very little of the tip of the pick showing.

Curious if you're still using them. I felt the same way when I first discovered these picks, used them religiously for about a year until I got so fed up with them wearing out in a matter of weeks, sometimes days. Now I play with 1.5mm tortex jazz 3's.

Great video! Really goes deep into what these picks are all about! I have tried everything from 50 cent picks to 100 dollar picks and I really do love these. I want to get the 1.14 mm version becuase it is very close to the hetfield white fang picks which I love, but aren't great having hetfield's signature on them for when I am playing on stage and chucking a few out when the get burned out. I will definately be sticking with them a bit more than I have with other picks I have tested out though, they feel worth getting used to properly. I seem to wear out just about anything in a day or so becuase I play really similar stuff to you frequently, but these will get a few days at least for me. Keep up the great content -Ollie🤘🤘

These may not be my go-to picks (I use Bog Street Mini Beasts - 1.5 mm tri-sided jazz style picks with an aggressive grip), but these are ALWAYS my backups in case I can’t find my MBs for whatever reason. If they’re good enough for Brandon Ellis of The Black Dahlia Murder, they’re good enough for me 😆🤘

really cool video! I actually tried these out recently. I accidentally bought the 1.5 mm and it's mega thick! haha it still feels great for metal stuff but the thick material also has me struggling on the strumming. I believe they do make a .88 mm version. I will try those as I really like them. I also hold the pick very close to my index and thumb fingers. Probably because I add a lot of pinch harmonics. There's a pick brand I really like called Snarling Dog Brain Picks. Very similar construction with the length and thumb grip. Only main difference is it is a nylon material. I'm not sure if they make them in the U.K though! if they do I'd recommend giving them a try :)

Thanks man I appreciate it. And yes it seems like this type of pick is really geared towards guys like us who don’t have much of the pick showing. Like I said, I’m a really pinchy player too but yeah, it’s taking some getting used to for sure.

Also with the strumming aspect. Relax out your wrist a little more to compensate for the extra.12mm and as corny as it sounds go with the flow of the pick 🤘
