Top Gun Anthem Improved Preset

What do you do when you accidentally erase all of your settings on your keyboard? Cry. But then, build them back better! In light of the final trailer recently being released for the new Top Gun Maverick movie, here’s my new and improved preset of the best movie intro music track ever made. It took some work, but the drum tones and reverb are improved and closer to the movie track, as well as some other background sounds and effects. I’m happy to share the preset with anyone who can direct me how to export single presets from a Yamaha MODX (their Soundmondo app just seems to be broken and doesn’t work for me). I'm just beginning to learn music theory and then decided to see a repeat of the original top gun. The bells along with the harmonies can give you goose bumps while watching the opening scenes of the movie. Can't wait to see the new sequel.

I watched it in the theater. It was an amazing experience. The great thing is that this theme also plays in the opening scenes and the credits!

I was a kid when the original Top Gun came out in 1986. I have seen it literally, several hundred times and I still love it every time. I love the music, and yes, the bell gongs still give me chills whenever I listen to the music. Well done!

It’s the TUB-BELLS patch on the Yamaha DX7

The iconic bell you hear is from the Yamaha DX7. After 20 years of DJing, I got into music production. It's been far more difficult than I imagined but more rewarding that I imagined. Many producers learn synthesis via synthesizers. A way to produce your own sounds using a bases of sound manipulation (technically how you add and separate the hyper complexity of waves). There are many types including subtractive, additive, wavetable, granular, resonator, and so forth. The bell you hear is what's called FM synthesis. It's not easy to recreate this sounds but FM synthesis creates very glassy sounds ideal for a particular sound. The Yamaha DX7, while outdated, truly produced some of the most timeless sounds ever.

If you are recording into a DAW you could always render the patch (track) and then you could export it in email, mp3 or mp4. I'm sure a lot of people would love that...ME! Great work man, very impressive!

Like all the other comments, I have to commend you. That was pretty amazing! Great job with drums too. Wow! I would LOVE to have this performance. As for getting it out of your MODX, there's really only two ways. Soundmondo of course, which I agree with you can be iffy at times. The other way would be to back up your complete system. Then delete everything you wouldn't want to give away in your user area except this performance. Then you can save your user area to USB and send that file. Then restore your backup and you should be back to where you were.

Yamaha’s “Tubular Bells” preset, doubled up an octave apart and slightly detuned. It’s a preset on most of Yamaha’s FM-synthesis keyboards like the DX7.

Yup it’s a synth bass, so no major effects on it.
