This is the best video I’ve watched on locating deer. Very clear with great examples. Thank you!

I’ve got 19 acres that was logged last January and there is slash everywhere. Deer travel in it but I’m sure they are selective as to where to go. It’s probably an opportunity to direct deer movement . What do think about going in and making piles to try directing deer movement? I have limited equipment so am wondering if a skid steer would be worth renting to help with that job.

I would 100% take the time now to clean it up a bit. Cover can be too thick for deer. They like cover but they don’t want to climb through nothing but slash. Make trails, open pockets within the area and connect it all together. No dead ends. Over time it will get thick and you’ll have a great bedding area. But the time to lay the foundation is now!

I need to know about Mountainous terrian. I live in Arkansas and we have a lot of mountains.

Look for saddles with heavy trails rubs and scrapes preferably with cover or close to food

There’s a lot with hills/mountains. Saddles, benches, ridge fingers, thermal hubs. I don’t hunt those areas often but could try to put a video together!

Hunt on the end of a ridge. Look an area with lots of downed trees for bedding. Accompanied with acorns.

Been setup in my saddle at the top of a draw with a bench running into the top of that draw and deer having been dropping down in from the steep sides, it's been very unpredictable and strange movement.

Similar thing happening here in upper peninsula Michigan , very weird

Sounds like your topo / in person scouting has you close to the right spot! Sometimes deer will travel differently for some reason or another. Once you figure out why it will likely make sense. But maybe make a tiny adjustment to move closer to where you’re seeing the movement.
