As in Europe the Corona Virus is in full flow, we just want to remind you to be responsible, and keep yourself safe and the ones around you. We are all in this together and the outcome is largely dependent on the actions of everyone collectively. We have restricted our flying for this reason and this video was shot a few weeks ago. Prepare, not panic, and we'll see you all very soon :)

one thing that helps when landing is not looking straight down. Eyes on the horizon is usually better use your peripheral vision.. If you are going for a side hill then looking up and behind you where you want to land works well

Wow, this looks like such a perfect place to fly - lovely constant laminar airflow, sun and sea. It must be close to heaven. I could watch this all day.

Hey Andre and Gemma, the production quality of your videos are some of the best in the PG/PPG community. Considering there are many times when your shots are taken at a long distance, the videos are steady and track the other person very well (especially since most of the footage is hand held!). Same goes for filming in a windy environment- very little wind noise to distract from the great footage. And of course, your content has always been top notch, especially all the ground handling exercises.

Thanks a lot dude, we really appreciate it as that's an aspect behind the scenes that not many people realize.

Really nice! I have a question please, how much does salt air affect the life span of the wing?
@AndreBandarra14 жыл бұрын
It affects it. How much I'm not sure, probably like UV light from the sun.

I recently had a scary experience when i launched in strong wind about 20kph, and the glider went straight up, i found myself trying to descend for 30 minutes with full speed bar and ears and tried going out of dynamic lift but still climbing, the was no convection and clear sky at around 5:30pm. I finally managed to descent to launch altitude and started hovering right at the edge of where the ridge rotor begins which is a descending layer with little turbulence, i had seen the tandem pilots use it, there was no issue penetrating back into the ridge so i had no worries about that, but i know it goes against common practice. The local tandem pilots do it a lot here in colombia in strong wind, big ears and ride the boundary layer between laminar and rotor. So i managed a soft landing as i let go of the bigears, it felt like an emergency landing, i had no more options into the night. Would love to hear comments about this practice elsewhere. Regards.

Hi Andre and Gemma, what site is this. I like the sandy launch/top landing area to start learning top landing myself😊
@AndreBandarra12 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, It's Polvoeira, north of Nazare. Only drawback is that as it needs W, SW wind, those winds are usually quite strong and bring bad weather. Another good option for that is "the middle step" at Bom Sucesso
@robertmout72404 жыл бұрын
Nice one! Thank you for all the pointers Gemma. Is this Polvoeira?

yep!

Every landing is always a "transition to ground handling", never can you land and not think of the wing. Also you can start to steepen those turns near the ground now hehehe, nek minit wingovers above the landing site! :p
