Seriously?!?! We went out and got a brand new $650 maytag. And then it was doing the SAME THING as our "broken" old one. Could not believe it was filling and draining simultaneously. Then, I picked up the hose from the sump drain where itd always been installes in this dumb house. And it quit draining. At that moment a lightbulb went off as I thought about french drains and how someone could siphon gasoline. And I looked it up. Problem freaking solved with standing drain pipe. Thank you a billion times for saving me the painful embarrassment that was about to be my life as I was going to flip out on Lowes for selling me a broken item. Lol. My own stupid fault!

Staying with friends who have GE AVC top load washer. Chrome power & start button. Digital panel? Guy showed them a piece of plastic says it'll be a week. Don't have model but I can't imagine I saw earlier tonight that if is a square panel behind the square buttons. No knob. I did the unplug replug. Is there a reset button somewhere? Signed your KZbin plumber, mechanic, electrician, , washer overflowing tube reattaching, serpentine belt replacer. Lol. Oh I made a bangin peach cobbler tonight.

The anti-siphon clip attaches to the drain hose and the back of the washer. It allows you to lift the drain hose up, thus keeping the washer from filling and draining at the same time. Just remember: - The drain hose should be at least 30 inches high. - Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the drain. These last two things is what would cause the water to siphon back into the washer. Hope this is helpful! Thanks, Megan from GE

Thank you so much for this video. We finally understand why my washing machine for scouring wool fleece in our garage keeps draining after filling to soak the wool. We raised the drain hose that goes out the side door but that didn't fix the issue so we raised the end to stop the vacuum that was created...we realized that because we don't have a wall drain we can fashion one with pvc pipe larger than tge drain hose.

Make sure you have some water hammer arrestors on those inlet pipes & always turn off both hot & cold supply valves when not in use. Drain overflow & burst supply hoses are causing insurance companies to require $25,000 deductible for water damage in multi-residential buildings.

Hi, nTheQ - There is not a back flow device in the drain hose, but many models include a pump filter, easy to clean. Please see our video “Front Load Washer Pump Clean Out”, for review. Also, ensure the drain hose is not too far down the standpipe, to allow it to dry out. The best way to ensure the pump is working is to see if water is being drained when it turns on. After operation is restored, run a Basket Clean cycle to help eliminate any remaining odor. I hope this helps! Jill with GE

if the hose pipe is adjusted vertically wont it be unable to drain the water when washing is done ?

The GE Appliances Top-load, Front load, and Unitized washers have powerful drain pumps that can pump water vertical as high as 8 feet above the floor. Spacemaker compact washers pump up to (5) feet.

My FRONT LOAD washing machine is smelling bad and leaving muck on white clothe (probably all clothes). I removed the drain hose from the washing machine & lots of mold & silt came out everywhere. I flushed out the hose and fitting from tub to pump. The hose seems to have a restriction in it. Questions: 1. is there a back flow device in the hose &, 2. is there an easy way to check the drain pump working before reinstalling everything. Thanks
