The washer fell off inside the tub at 3:38 seconds when you pulled the lower agitator off and turned upside down, you can hear it fall and make a noise in the video, You put everything back together it would of been good to let people be aware of this when you noticed it didn't work properly . Other then that great video and it will help out a lot of people. GREAT JOB

Tim, THANKS for the complete step by step video. Was a super easy and inexpensive DIY 5-10 minute fix (after you obtain 4 new nylon agitator dogs). All 4 dogs in my Maytag Clothes Washer had their nylon dogs were not actually broken off or crumbed into pieces, but simply the dogs had become just chipped & worn down on the outside edges from years of use and would no longer catch the agitator's top section. Easy fix just follow the step by step video and unbolt 1 bolt, lift off the top agitator section and gear assembly from the bottom section, pop out the black retainer ring & 4 old nylon dogs and replace with the 4 new ones, then slip back on the retaining ring, slide the gear assembly that holds the 4 dogs and re-bolt back the top agitator section piece to the bottom section and I am now back in business! Thanks again for the easy to follow video. Hint: If you are really worried that you can't do it or won't know how your model looked like when you take it part, then for piece of mind simply take a few pics with your cellphone along the way, you can always delete the pics afterwards. Hi there… I had a really nice vintage Maytag washer given to me n I was all excited.. guy said it worked n my friend came over to run it thru a cycle … it filled, it drained and it spun .. but it wouldn’t agitate… did your washer spin too? Thank you for your reply … I hate getting rid of this machine.. very clean n doesn’t even look used much … it’s a very heavy washer n is small somewhat but was excited because older washers go forever … repair guys want about 90$ just to come out and then labor and parts r separate so I’m looking at 250-300$ .. on social security so that makes it hard .. I’m mechanically inclined n if it was just these dogs such as in this video that’d be fun actually to attempt doing this .. just wondered if your washer spun even tho it didn’t agitate .. saw somewhere else that it could also be the timer

Sure would be great if there was a demonstration of what the washer sounds like when it's turned on. Is it grinding? Or does the washer sound normal but won't agitate?
@yourfuturestepfather31713 жыл бұрын
It will sound normal. It's only 4 small plastic pieces that wear out. So there's actually the lack of contact rather extra contact that would cause the "grinding" sound.

At 6:51 you removed the plastic cover for the that covers the agitator screw. I have broken a few getting them out. What do you do when they are stuck in the top part of the agitator and gummed up softener? Spray with spray nozzle, let soak, soak with detergent/vinegar? I just broke one side of one with a pair of channel locks. I then sprayed with a water hose spray nozzle. Got most of the gunk off the walls of the agitator too. Letting it soak a little while now. Thinking about using detergent or vinegar and letting it soak.

My Maytag produces a grinding sound during wash. But when I take everything out, the noise goes away. Is it more common for the agitator's spline to wear out than the transmission shaft's spline?
@earthstewardude Жыл бұрын
So you pulled out the bigger part and mentioned possibly worn splines... so is it easy to fix that? Whole new big agitator needed?
Tim, thank you for this video--I am getting ready to do this fix, but: If I push down on the top agitator, it will start "turning," but it only goes back and forth (like from 12:00 to 3:00 then back to 12:00) and I am pretty sure it used to go back and forth within a larger rotation pattern (like 12:00 to 3:00, then back to 1:00, then from 1:00 to 4:00 and back to 2:00, etc.) Do these symptoms confirm the diagnosis of worn dogs, or do they indicate something else? It is a Kenmore 70 Series, Model 110. Thanks so much!
@byrdappliancespecialists33566 жыл бұрын
Transmission or agitator spline, possibly... but try the dogs, they're cheap, and I wouldn't be sure without seeing the problem.
@pabruat6 жыл бұрын
@@byrdappliancespecialists3356 Thanks, Tim, good idea to just try the dogs first, but I'll take a look at that spline while I am in there. Can I pick your brain on another issue with this machine? It has a very intermittent issue with draining on the final spin cycle. When the timer dial shows the whole cycle is finished, most times everything is fine (so I haven't worried about it). But once in a while when the cycle is finished the tub is full of water and once in a while there is a little water left in the bottom of the tub ( a couple of inches). Usually just turning the knob back a few degrees to the final part of the final spin will solve the problem; it will do a normal final spin and drain. I've seen a lot of suggestions about drain problems but none that dealt with it being so intermittent. Any suggestions on the best place to start with this?
@byrdappliancespecialists33566 жыл бұрын
It's hard to clog the drain on these. If they clog, something gets stuck in the drain impeller and it jams the whole machine, so you would know. You could have a worn out clutch. The basket won't spin well and leaves the clothes wet. Then they will drop, leaving a little water in the bottom. That, or the motor is dying, but the clutch is more likely.
@byrdappliancespecialists33566 жыл бұрын
If the tub is full of water, then your lid switch may be failing. If the lid switch fails, it will not enter the final spin.
