L’Oréal Double Extend Beauty Tubes is a good drugstore tubing mascara. I usually skip the primer side when using on the lower lashes.

Emily! I’ve also had problems with clump crusher. My favorite replacement is the Wet n Wild Waterproof Skinny. It’s not dramatic but it really stays on the lashes and adds some nice length

Have you thought maybe clump crusher has been smudging on you because of the setting spray you've been using? I often spray my setting spray first then do my mascara as my last step.

Great tip! I've noticed if I immediately spray setting spray without letting my mascara dry it will immediately smug. Never thought to do setting spray first then mascara. Definitely will give it a try! Thanks for the tip!

I give my lower lashes the very lightest dusting of translucent powder after they dry and it helps prevent smudging. I use a c brush, tap the excess off, and gently tap on my lashes. Also, covergirl professional remarkable mascara is my favorite non-waterproof mascara because I have watery eyes, but it holds up well, is affordable, and easy to remove at the end of the day.

I can only use tubing mascaras on my lower lashes. You can try L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes (red and gold tube) or No 7 Stay Perfect Long Lasting Volume (gold tube). I found mine in Target and Walgreens.

Maybelline total temptation waterproof is great for my lower lash liner. I have so many issues with smudging, that is THE ONLY one that doesn't smudge, high-end or drugstore.

Clump Crusher is my holy grail. I love how it doesn't clump or make my eyelashes look spidery. It also doesn't make my eyes itch. I can't afford to try a bunch of other mascaras so I'm curious as to what others might recommend also.

I am in a similar boat and my go to mascaras have been smudging on the lower lashes. So far, I am having luck with the L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof mascara. Wand is a bit of a different shape, but it separates and lengthens nicely.

If you don't mind ordering online, the KissMe Heroine Mascaras are the best I've tried. I prefer the volumizing one only because the lengthening one lengthens so much my lashes start to touch my eyebrows. They never smear or flake on me and they hold a curl even after crying. Con is you'll have to use oil based removers to get them off.

My favourite bottom lash mascara is the CLINIQUE Lash Power. I've been using it for years! It never flakes or transfers or smudges. It's basically budge proof until you take it off! It has a smaller brush, which makes it easy to apply to the bottom lashes, and it comes off easily with warm water. Unfortunately, I haven't found a dupe at the drugstore.

Loreal Double Extend, it is a tubing mascara with a primer. You have to work at it to get thick lashes, but it won't smudge. I just went back to using this after everything started smudging on me too!

Maybe the nyx mascara ‘worth the hype’ would be good for your lower lashes. I use it on top and bottom and I’ve never had any issues with smearing or crumbling. It’s a drier formula, so I think that helps a lot.
