Cp4 plagued any diesel with them. Cummins,power strokes, and Duramax's are all affected by them. I know this is about TDI but figured I'd through that out there

I’m looking at a 12 Mk6 tdi golf already has the stage 2 and fun stuff hopefully it works out always wanted a tdi but never found the right deal this ones owned by a vw fanatic so I know it’s been well taken care of. Can’t wait to test drive it

A delete should 100% come before a CP3 swap. CP4 pumps will last if you change your fuel filter and dont put crappy fuel in.

I live in rural area, 13 Jetta, had to trade off due to stalls with multiple codes, glow plug 3, engine speed sensor stuff and many wired issues….still loved the car, but I had to have a vehicle that would stop me on road.

Had my timing belt go on my 2.0tdi passat (b7, 2014) at 84k ish miles and had the whole engine rebuilt bc I’m no mechanic. Vw claims they last to 130k but change it around 75-80k trust me. Now I’m 15k miles into the new engine and just did the flywheel (dual mass it’s a DSG Ik) and fixed a coolant leak. Got a great vw/Audi shop near me that my boys dad owns that’s got good labor prices and are crazy knowledgeable near me but sadly they aren’t tuners. Definitely gonna go stage 2 and intake most likely just a muffler delete bc ik it won’t make it too loud and don’t want it to be much louder. Gotta say I don’t ever recommend anyone to get a tdi but it has been a fun car

Delete everything except the muffler. Better power, mileage and the engine lasts twice as long. It's a tiny bit louder if you keep the muffler. It's loud as hell without the muffler.

My goal is 225-230hp/370tq crank. My cjaa right now is deleted with Xman cr170, 4 bar map, xman discharge pipe, s3 intercooler. Got the cp3 recently will install it in January and will add meth later next year. This is my daily and i think is the best daily setup bang for your buck.

@@ThatGuyTyy at least in 4cil or CJAA around 10hp/15tq minimum at the flywheel from what i have read in Darkside. That will depend of the quality of the methanol and the volume injected. More power then bigger noozle or more volume injected. Also lower egt or temps. The moment the pump start injecting meth to the engine gain those benefits no matter what the rpm.

Invest in good tires. I can't open the throttle all the way until 4th gear even with the extenza hp II.

Depends on state as for yearly smog tests…in Kentucky we do not have such testing…it my 13 Jetta this had not had issues I post in another comment, i would have deleted dpf.

Honestly would delete, straight pipe and stage 2 tune with Trans tune first for any economic build. No need to change cp4 if you give it good fuel and change everything at regular intervals.

If you can get access to any mid 2000’s cayenne or something with an 18z brake package, cheapest Way to get fat brakes!

Hey whats up ty, im new to this tdi stuff and im a little confused and overwhelmed with trying to find the cp3 pump. I have a 2012 mk6 jetta manual tdi that i just got as a daily and ive been watching some of your vids to get up to speed on it. Could you please drop the part number for the fuel pump i need to replace? My engine code is CJAA

You say don't go with exhaust when looking for economy but getting rid of the restricted stock exhaust is probably one of the best mods for economy

Definitely deleting the DPF and Cat if you are in a non emissions area or for off-road is gonna be the best bet with a tune for economy

Don't forget pipe diameter. I went with 3" from the turbo back. Sounds great and gets about 80mpg on the highway.

The crank case pressure you are experiencing might seem worse than you think as the vacuum pump, that is driven by your cam, exhausts into your case. The valve cover is designed to filter off all the oil before that case pressure is routed back to your turbo inlet.

Deleted it all. Dpf shit the bed and the dealership wanted 7500 to replace it. Went in for the Rawtek straight pipe with a resonator tuned to stage 2 and CAI. The highway economy average went from 6.1 l/100 km to 5.6 l/100 km

After a CP3 and DPF/EGR delete, what would you recommend to bullet proof these cars? I have a 14 Jetta 6MT. Recommended delete kit and tune? Any experience with Eco Diesel Canada? I saw in a previous comment you used a whitbread CP3 kit correct?

CP3 and deletes if you have no plans for higher performance is about all you need!

I just had my fuel pump fail. What are your thoughts on cleaning the metal lines instead of replacing them all? Trying to decide if I should repair or just sell it for parts.

When the pump fails, it's likely gonna send metal through the entire fuel system, i wouldn't personally re-use anything at this point, and I'd be looking in the tank at the same time if I were you.

What are your thoughts. Looking at this 2014 golf tdi with 81,000 miles. Just had the whole fuel system replaced under warranty. There asking 14k what do you think? Also where can I get a cp3 pump and who would install it and know what there doing? Would VW do it?

I'm buying a mk6 TDi with 112k miles and timing belt done at 97k.... should I do the fuel pump job you explained right away? Or is there a certain threshold I have of when they go?

I would definitely look into it sooner than later, there isn't necessarily a threshold to which they fail, it's more about abuse of the engine, and lack of maintenance, but you are due for a timing belt if it hasn't been done, so typically best to just do it at the same time as the timing components have to come apart at the same time.

Hey Ty, so I got mk7 golf, specifically the ‘15 tdi SE. Is there such a thing that exists where I could potentially upgrade my infotainment system to something that displays & accesses fun things like Launch Control, Readings/Info on all the different gauges that monitor things like boost, fluids, temps, etc. while still keeping the pre existing normal things like Media Player, Sat Radio, etc.?

I honestly am not sure even if something like that exists in an all in one unit, I know there are gauges like VADpro that can be added to a vent that does all that but maybe not all into infotainment

I've got a Mk6 TDI golf. Current upgrades are cold air intake, Stage 2 Malone tune, full exhaust, and CP3. Still want more power. Id also like a BOV but wasnt sure how they preform on TDIs. Any ideas in more power/BOV on this build?

Have you ever thought about awd swapping your car I know on the manual transmission it’s almost a direct bolt on, except for welding in center support bearing prop shaft mounts and cutting out the spare tire well but not to sure how easy it is on the dsg. still I think it would be pretty cool to have an awd tdi

Lots have people have bugged me, I definitely have looked into it a few times - I personally would prefer it to be haldex AWD with a DSG just for comfort when I don't want to beat on it - however the cost is something that currently makes it impossible for me - maybe if I get big I will do it one day haha!

Hey man, awesome video! This was really helpful for planning my mods to an ‘11 TDI. How difficult is the CP3 fuel pump to install? Just wondering if I should go with a shop for the delete, tune, and pump replacement. FYI, I have access to a friend’s lift and some mechanically inclined people.

It's not too bad, since it is timing belt driven, I would do the timing belt and water pump service at the same time, and make sure you have a timing belt tool kit ready as well, as there are specific tools needed!

Yes, since TDI’s are high compression you need to have precise timing when you switch the pump out

I would consider if you have the ability to delete the car, do it and get a tune - if you have emissions laws then thats another story and up to you to decide. I live in Canada so we don't really have any - but makes a world of a difference in power, and economy. Less to break in the future as well

Im super new to working on my car, I just got a 2012 Jetta TDI 135k km on the engine, automatic, what would you recommend in upgrades? I am basically looking to keep this car until it dies so I want to get the most fuel economy and also the best chance of it lasting a long time :D also if its possible to send me links to any parts since I am not mechanically inclined so finding a part will be almost impossible with my knowledge. Also I live near Toronto about an hour away so if there is any places to tune anyone knows that are in the Toronto area please let me know thank you all so much!

Talk to rawtek, and let them know I referred you! Delete it and go stage 2 with a dsg tune as well! Should last a million km

Dsg can handle more power without having physical hardware changes, cheaper if you just tune the dsg

Sell it? Jk, I actually don’t know anything about the 1.6, we never got them in North America, so it’s hard to understand it’s weak/ strong points. Definitely delete and tune as a start, and then I would look into longevity modifications?

OK I'm going to have to say something... I don't intend to offend... but your ignorance is showing. With a diesel the less back pressure the lower the EGT's the longer the turbo lasts. Sure is not AS prevalent as as diesel pickups but it does effect it. Personally the first 2 upgrades would be the tuning and exhaust SYSTEM if nothing else. Other then that I agree with everything you're putting out there.

Uh oh, you do realize heat = spool speed. Without heat, bad spool time. That’s why the wrap the turbo in blankets; to keep the heat in to make it spool faster. If you’re worried about the turbo, run better oil. It will help cool. BTW, the engineers allow turbos to glow orange and still be good.

@olddirtyburt7522 pistons are a metal called aluminum and the begin to melt down just above 1,000°. With diesels the more fuel and less air flow makes Temps climb rapidly with gas vehicles you can add fuel to help keep your Temps down. Turbos glowing red is a Hollywood trick not reality. Your turbo housing intake side is aluminum and if the turbo starts glowing on the bearing or exhaust sides your intake side will start melt down rapidly.
So, you want to buy a 2.0TDI - MK6/MK7 VW
