@@LFOVCF you know that for a fact . I don’t. I’ve recently talked to a retired army officer. One of two officers that had to go to a hotel room years ago to rescue a couple of 16 year old boys ( army cadets ) from the clutches of matey and his mate . I know a liar when I see one . And I sure this man in his sixties wasn’t making it up .also watch the jimll fix it with kitty singing in that ladies kitchen. Savilles car drops him of , and there’s something about it that would just make any normal person uncomfortable. I understand from people I know that have met him that he’s a jolly nice bloke , he made my brother in law a orange squash.

No mention of an important and historic mistake. Is that because they realise it was? That summer, just after the Pistols debacle in fact, was it intended to make the show less cool? they stopped using the classic Whole Lotta Love theme. They replaced it with just using a different current record as the theme each week. 1977 was the time of a Great Theme Tunes Vandalism. I aged 9 at the time noticed it very vividly, and wish the nostalgia industry would show some awareness, analyse it and tell us wtf cultural conspiracy was going on in the BBC that motivated it? They pointlessly dropped the classic themes that have always remained well remembered and loved, on 3 shows at once - TOTP, Animal Magic, and Nationwide - and replaced them with crap everyone has forgotten. Because there was no web or KZbin then, gone meant gone, you couldn't still hear those themes. It had more impact than it would now. Was it to make the country less self-assured and feelgood about 70s culture and more depressed so that we would vote for Thatcher? Only reason I can think of.
