Hahaha...surprised me ! before we entered Alaska, I never even knew there was an actual town called the north pole !

As a kid, we took the Alaska Highway from Dawson Creek to Dawson City, then swung down to Skagway and started the long drive home to Alberta back in '86. It does not look like it's changed much. Back then, the border crossing took about 5 minutes and the guy never left the booth.
@SHHHMotoTravels2 жыл бұрын
When we did the skagway ride, on episode 6, it was the same way...very simple crossing and yes, he never left the booth. If i had to get, probably close to what it was like in late 80's Thanks for watching !

What a blast. I would have expected (as I'm sure you guys were) that the pole would be a HUGE monument, not a 5 foot barber pole looking thing. hahahaha !! It'll be interesting to see if Noraly from Itchy Boots will stop in some of the same places.
@SHHHMotoTravels2 жыл бұрын
haha, I was looking for something maybe a foot in diameter and about 40 feet high !! I kept missing it cause of that I was thinking the same thing about Noraly !! i winder if she will blast by to get to the Dalton highway ?

No... I thought about that after it was too late for the altitude Was definitely a ridge line road and Yes, very few guard rails

Ya'll crossed where we did to get into Alaska. The highway looked nice and clear for ya'll. They were experiencing fires while we were there so the views were obscured. That was cool about the truck holding 34 people. Do you know why they named it Chicken? We stopped near North Pole, but we didn't go to any of the Santa stuff. Looks cool. Wish we'd stopped at the Ale House. What an awesome ice museum.
@SHHHMotoTravels2 жыл бұрын
They names the town Chicken, Alaska because no one could spell Ptarmagin....Thats what we found out there Love it that you guys can relate to what we have seen !
