We try to set up our Call/Put Debit spreads so the BREAKEVEN is right around the current stock/etf price (almost always possible). We are finding more success with this strategy. Also taking profits quicker - around the 35% mark. 60-90 days out and make sure to have a mix of Calls and Puts - kind of hedging both ways...

Regarding the exit strategy for credit spreads - I had tried placing a stop loss at 100% of max gain. In a couple of trades, I ended up being stopped out, usually during the first minute the market was open, and then I looked at the chart and discovered … The stock never even touched my short strike. So do you use _”mental stops”_ or what? Anyway, I stopped doing that. Since I use ToS, I was able to set an *ALERT* at the 100% level. Once again, it was triggered in the first minute or two the market was open. Rather than buying back my spread (since the underlying price was well clear of my short strike) I kept an eye on the trade. It never once touched my short strike and instead was sold at 50% of my max profit on a limit order. How do you handle the 100% exits?

On letting losers go. I will often get into a trade at .80 get busy and come back to to the trade later on to see that its gone down 70% Ill then tell myself that with X amount time to expiration there is more potential in holding onto the trade then recovering my 30%. Is it better to just cut the trade anyway?

I wonder...In a CSP, would you use the $300 of premium to buy a couple of shares of $AAPL then or let it sit in your cash account for something else?

I have been doing an 11 DTE Bull Put spread on SPX, works like a charm. Every Monday I close the open position if it didn't trigger at 50% profit sooner than that, and open the new one 11 days out as long as the market continues in the even or up direction.

@@ucheakusobi6281 Ok here it is: SPX 11 day trade: Trade based on mid term market direction (Up: Bull Put, Down: Bear Call) Enter trade on Mondays Criteria: 11 DTE (pick Friday expiration) Short strike at .35 delta or lower, insurance leg at a strike $10 lower (2 strikes away) Entry at mid-point price Exit when 50-75% profit target hits or on the following Monday no matter what, before you enter new trade. If trade goes against you, just exit at short strike price. Rinse and repeat ;)
