Love your reviews, I have both the insty connect and the weboost. I have had Wilson products for almost 20 years and they work some of the time but not all the time. Since I got the insty connect I stopped using the weboost. Most of my calls are over Wi-Fi when I'm at the rig. I have been in my rig full-time since November of last year. I can't tell you how many times whether I was in Mexico or the states and couldn't even get a single-bar of cell service the insty would pull a signal I could stream with. Keep up the good work.

@@AdventureBuilt when you get out there and have one bar or no bars and you try the insty try making a call with your cell phone which probably won't work then switch over to Wi-Fi calling and give that a shot That's when it gets impressive.

I have an IC as well. Had it over a year now and I even use it as my primary internet at home. I have a Verizon phone SIM card and a T-Mobile SIM card in the modem and get great speeds. Of course it doesn’t work everywhere, but it can be a game changer at places you didn’t have internet but now do with the IC.

@@aaronqueen55 Aaron have you looked into the visible SIM card. Unlimited data but with a 5.5 meg download cap. But with the insty connect you can go around that in the TTL settings. I'm on the party plan and it's 25 bucks a month last night I was getting about a 25 meg down on my visible card.

Zoleo seems a niche market. I'm quite content with my in reach mini. Much better pricing imo. Prefab messages aren't that difficult to setup and the whole point of being in the wilderness is to escape constant communication anyway, at least for me.

Saw the Zoleo thing very cool but what a bummer not available for the True Working man to either afford or the monthly payment for message to afford that . But great idea .

Many statements about the Garmin devices were incorrect. There should be a video done with a full comparison showing the functionality of both. Every feature stated was available on Garmin. I feel there is a lack of knowledge of the Garmin inReach line. You can message from the inReach device full messages, connect message from app on phone, you can also do the same from a Garmin watch, you can get weather on device, message anyone in contacts, device number, etc… this is just a few notable misnomers.
@AdventureBuilt2 жыл бұрын
I plan on doing a full comparison of the Zoleo, Garmin and maybe a Spot if I can get my hands on those others. The inReach does have those functions but they are not easy to use. I have owned it for a couple years and still can’t send a standard text message that isn’t in my Garmin phone book.
@Switchback_Outdoor_Safety2 жыл бұрын
@@AdventureBuilt The good news is on the phone you can use the Explore app and you can text contacts and they auto populate from your contacts… You can even directly type a number. Look forward to your comparison. I find the InReach to be the leader in the field with significant cross-platform access and utilization in the Garmin lineup. The ability to use the device across numerous devices makes it more versatile in my personal opinion.

Ba ha! in Oz in some places we are lucky to get any cell coverage at all let alone off road. I am always amazed buy the coverage you guys have. One of the reasons we go off road is we like the disconnection but there is other ways of communication if needed, for me it's HF radio. Sat phones are very expensive & don't always work. The HF is cheap, Just a yearly fee of $80 for my licence after the purchase of the radio. I can text, make phone calls, drop a location pin by the press of a button then my wife will get an email & she can log on to see where I'm at. I can make an emergency call to the emergency services if need be or talk to other people be they close or far away. There is also an emergency button that will log my location if it went to crap. If I want I can log an itinerary which will see me check in how often I want (or try to contact me if not or even come looking but I've never done that. I do get I have to be with my vehicle & the radio to be operational which is why I'm considering a personal beacon of some kind as back up. I think to have it attached to a backpack/grab bag would cover most things. As I get older is rare that I travel remotely these days on my own, I would never have given it a second thought not long ago often travelling for days without seeing anyone. Are we getting soft as technology gets better ?? I'd like to think we just have it as backup so we "CAN" be disconnected 😉

I wonder how the insty compares to starlink. I have never owned any of these Internet services
@AdventureBuilt2 жыл бұрын
The Insty is great but you have to have some cell service. Since starling is satellite it should have a lot more coverage. The Insty seems more affordable.
@aaronqueen552 жыл бұрын
I have both. I have the IC 4G option and as long as it can find a cell signal, it will get you WiFi. You use SIM cards from the cell providers to get the data. I was just at a few places that have no cell towers anywhere close so IC was a no-go, so the starlink gave us 100+mbps download speed. Both great options. So those campgrounds that get just a lil bit of cell service, the IC can make it better.

Zoleo - Impressed with their tech - fixed all the shortcomings of the competition to make easy to use and integrate. Price is right. Insty - Will be a great product as they continue to develop. It seems clunky in design as of now. Concept is great. Applicability is great. The product design appears clunky because of so many pieces, cables, boxes. Price is too steep for 5G.
