Top players decide their openings in 10 minutes | Round 5 | Freestyle Chess 2024

The players are given the position 10 minutes before the game and then they analyze with each other. Here we see how top players get together and decide what is to be played. The position that came out was 927 in round 5. A look at the video also helps you understand how these top guys think.

I like Ding, and he might be the nicest and cuddliest person in history, but he is a horrible WC, being used to Magnus just trolling and dominating other players while being WC in 3 different formats, Ding had some impossible shoes to fill.

This gives Fischer Random an unexpected cooperative component. You could have strange effects in larger tournaments with fixed pregame study groups that keep out others and/or complain to referees that an unwanted player is trying to listen in.

yeah i believe he does not really have a great relationship with any of the other players there. he analyzes alone and ding is to much of an introvert to participate i guess. so you have 6 players that discuss the opening.
