Wow, unbelievable. As you said, for the most emotional we can be towards vidit deserving that win, there is no deserving in chess. It’s a logical game and you are responsible for your brilliant moves but also your blunders on the last minute

Start Playing some OTB classical events you will understand what these guys go through having played a lot of classical OTB events I can guarantee if you make one such blunder you will not be coming back to chess again that's how Dissapionting you feel and at this level It's more tough for Vidit to comeback. Ofcourse that's just bad luck

This is a Nepo blunder, specially because he still had a lot of time in the clock. Surely heartbreaking, but this is the nature of chess. Fortunately for him, he still has some games here to come back, and it is better to blunder in Prague than in the Candidates. Good luck VD 👊

Instead of king g2 what if he plays d6. Then h1 check king g2 and rook takes queen, king takes rook. Then c7 pawn takes d6 and white c6 can advance to c7 &8 …is it not possible!!!

This should be called lack of self control and self-accountability definitely not a heartbreak. One has to slow down on winning and critical positions in the game. We 1200s make these blunders time to time and at this level this is considered very normal. But, being an inform supergm+(a candidate) making a one move blunder for a basic tactic is definitely inexcusable. I was so shocked as I was watching live. He had like 16 minutes+30s increment which is sufficient enough as the position isnt too complicated, your moves are natural ane you would need to make 8 accurate moves after which you get 30 minutes where you can quickly wrap-up the game and get enough time for a cup of warm tea. (16 minutes along w/30s increment)+8 accurate moves and you get 30 minutes more, +6 crushing eval and black having no counterplay whatsoever) considering all these factors this is definitely inexcusable. Call me biased or whatever but truth will hurt, a lot...

This is 100% nerves. I am 2000 FIDE and I can tell you I have lost completely winning positions against 2300's because the nerves start to kick in, and you don't want to take any risks. While Vidit has more much more experience than me, he is still human and makes blunders too. I must say though I only lose those positions because I am low on time, but Vidit did have a lot + time control, so it was a shocking way to blunder...

I came here expecting to be somehow disappointed in both of their performances... I was not wrong. However it is entertaining to watch both of them and that's the most important thing in my opinion. Of course you want to be the best but you also want sponsors to keep you going. In that sense they deserve their place in the chess world.

@@poncianoespiritu6527 ?? Have you ever played OTB chess. Do you know how it feels? Imagine spending hours at a board, and many more hours at home preparing for an opponent, to be winning and then lose? Not only are those hours lost, you have to win another long game to get back to where you were. If you don't know anything about chess then don't go to comment sections and start crying about something you don't know what you're even talking about.
