I think people generally brew at home what they aren’t finding in their local breweries, which is why people aren’t brewing IPAs at home as much

100%. One of the best reasons to homebrew is because you can say "I want a Witbier and a slightly chocolatey Dark Mild on draft". And in a couple weeks you're there. Good luck finding that.

I'd do this survey again in six months. As an Aussie coming into summer right now, IPA's, NEIPA's and Mexican Lagers are on my list, but when winter rolls around, it will be back into the darker stouts, porters and darker ale styles.
@smithbernard222 күн бұрын
I personally am leaning towards sours for this summer. I think I've beaten a dead horse over the winter and done just about every style of IPA. So for me it's gonna be PoR draught and sours. But I do agree check back in 6 months!

Lower abv english styles have been my go to in the past year and I think that trend will continue for me going into 2025.

I've got some experimental beers coming up - but the comments on my videos, pretty much align with your findings: viewers asking for lower ABV easy drinking styles.

Trends definitely change with the seasons personally I’ll brew anything any time of the year. My Christmas special video is normally a dark beer but this year thinking of showcasing a pilsner ( left field ) I’m a BIG fan of the channel cheers and appreciate you all at claw hammer ❤️👍🍻

I’m planning to brew a Kveik Rice Lager next. I also want to make a hybrid between an IPA and an ordinary bitter. Basically a toasty brown session IPA

I make a lot of "Aussie Pilsners," which are basically NZ or WC Pils with Aussie Hops; my current favourite is Vic Secret. Brewing with mostly 15%+ Alpha can be quite challenging, but it tastes great when you get it right. And when I'm in a hurry or can't be bothered with temp control, it's an Aussie Kevik Ale! I brew 'interesting' beers occasionally, but when I do, I do it in 4-6lt batches in a bucket and bottle it, as they are nice to pull off the shelf occasionally but not to drink in the evening on a weeknight. Bottled an 11% imperial stout last weekend but also put what should be a 4.5% Vic Secret Kevik All in the main fermentor, which should be on tap for a nice hot summer

I'm most interested in some of the classic German styles like Fest, Weizenbock, Hefeweizen AND trying to reproduce some of the classics like a Guiness. Cheers

Kyle - some of this is a function of what we can’t get at the bottle shop (plenty of IPAs for sale, California Common - not so much)

Hey, VelkyAl here - the "Al" is short for Alistair, "velky" is Czech for "big", it was my nickname when I lived in Prague and it stuck.

When I gave a talk at Homebrew Con in 2022 on English Ales, I was surprised at the response. The room was packed, and the four 3-gallon kegs I brewed for the talk weren’t nearly enough 😂

"Aged on tequila" probably means ex-tequila barrels (rather than bourbon, sherry, scotch) I bet you're getting views on the crazy stuff because people are interested in how that sort of thing is gonna turn out, but would rather watch someone else do it so they don't waste their time on something that might not be any good. Plus there's a million IPA and lager videos out there, no one's fermenting bean-o on camera yet.

Definitely working the Reds. I did make a Hoppy Red that had a ln aroma of rubbing alcohol. It’s been sitting in the fridge for 3 months and I broke it back out to try and save it. It’s currently back in fermentation with the addition of homemade fig syrup.

A tropical stout isn’t actually that weird. It sounds like some juicy, hoppy stout but it’s actually a stout suited to hot and ‘tropical’ climates like Africa, Caribbean etc.

I'm a big fan of IPA's but I don't think I would be able to do them as good as my favorite breweries so I will keep buying them instead. Its fun to watch all the crazy experiments and odd styles while I brew what I know will be good at home and that I know I'll drink a lot of.

I cannot do low ABV English beers. I've yet to have one that wasn't thin, watery, and just a bit too flat for my palate. I'll take saison, Mexican lager, and schwartzbier any day over basically the entire set of English beers.

is this list for homebrewers or breweries? in California at least, pints at many places are pushing double digit prices now unfortunately. I like a pils or pale ale but under 6% abv seems too light for the $.

Just throwing out an idea. One of my most favorite beers to enjoy is only sold in Wisconsin and made only in Wisconsin as well. Don't want to say the brand or name or style here to keep out of being in trouble....but it's the most popular beer sold in Wisconsin. It's classification is a combination of a farmhouse ale, and a cream ale. At around 6% ABV. Something like this would be awesome to watch you make on the channel and see what kind of reaction people have when they try it at home.
@jamesleehunter5 күн бұрын
yeah it's not surprising that people watch differently to how they brew, it's a skill level thing. Afer getting to a decent level viewers are pretty much just hunting for tricks and ingredient reviews.
