When MalO was thrust into our reality via SCP-914's Very Fine setting, it's sort of like what happens when an unruly toddler gets away from an inattentive parent in a shopping mall. If Dr. Siegel had used the Fine setting and indeed gotten MalO ver. 2.0.0, MalO would have had the chance to get used to things slowly and probably would have fully manifested into our reality anyway, avoiding a lot of headaches for everyone at Site 19.

56:20 there actually is a separate SCP that resulted from that called the Lovecraftian Locket. Exposure to it open can heal you, but if that exposure lasts longer than I believe 12 minutes, you start mutating. Also, the exposure is cumulative, so if you had 3 minute exposure one time and 9 minutes another time, it's still gonna be enough to start turning you into The Blob. Edit: oh, that was fine, not very fine.

What i dont unerstand is after the very fine incident why you dont have a safety procedure in place where the defenses set up are way better, and since the machine takes like 10 minutes to spit out the new thing. You put it in, you back up behind the secured area with cameras into the room, and watch to see if something terrible comes out. This wouldnt be needed for fine and below in most cases of course. But anything of very fine is a danger. But if its results are identical each time with the same inputs, you can use the very fine setting to possibly make drastic improvements if you find a good thing, but you have to be ready so no more crazy stuff breaks out of the minimal coverage they have and kills people.

I wonder what would happen if you were to put a handgun in there, on the 'fine' setting instead of 'very fine'', and if the gun is improved slightly, i would repeat the process with the same handgun, eventually gaining something like a handheld railgun or plasma rifle. It seems like the 'fine' setting always improves the item placed inside but in a more controllable manner. This would be a great way to arm foundation grunts with more advanced firepower. Same thing with armor and protective gear. Just shuffle them on and on again untill you get impenetrable powered armor like in fallout.
