You're such a lovely rider, with a lovely hand and leg that adapts so nicely to the horses you ride. Getting astride these big babies is SO good for you, it will help your scope and your eye for the future and give you more range in your riding which is such a good thing! I'm so proud of you Meg, even out of your comfort zone even so nervous and anxious you kept on and were just brilliant! Those flying changes came for you better and better, you were even getting them over the fences. Great job and I'm so looking forward to seeing you on more of these big ponies!

Dan was so reassuring and put you on such a solid citizen. I won't lie, I cracked up laughing when you really backed out of the double and he was like, NOPE and dragged the ground line over. What came across to me, Meg, was breathe deeply and trust the horse to do his/her job. We’re so used to thinking we are in a position of having to manage things we forget that the horse wants to work with us and do what we want. And we get in their way because we forget to be ourselves like they are themselves.

It’s so nice to see equine influencers being real, confidence is such an important this in riding and at the moment i have basically none to the point where I’m struggling to canter. The horse I ride is 18hh and because of the weather we are in the indoor which he doesn’t like so he plays up/naps towards the middle near his friends and my confidence is shattered because of it. 🤞 spring comes soon so we can get back to the outdoor. Meg, I think this is the size Ettie is going to be. If not this tall, then very close. So proud of you not giving up!! I'm so glad that Dan pushed you to do the whole course once again, it gave you so much confidence and showed you that you CAN jump fences that you think are too tall. Ettie is already a tall filly, and she isn't even weaned yet!! She's only going to get taller and fill out on you. She is NOT going to be Pony sized by any stretch of the imagination. Listen to what Dan and Lucinda keep telling you. You CAN DO IT!!! Believe in yourself Meg! I believe in you, so many of us believe in you. Your confidence will only grow from this experience. I have found that self-regulation is so important when riding, even when i've been really nervous on a horse, to the best of my ability, I try and exude confidence so the horse feels secure and comfortable, even when i'm not. Putting the horse first and faking it till you make it (Without overdoing something past your ability) is so important and always makes for a better ride!!

I hope that when you rewatched this you saw how well you did. You rode a giant-strided horse so well even though it was two hands outside of your comfort zone! It’s funny how it feels so different from how it looks. I went through this exact kind of fear recovery, and I was paired up with a wonderful mare who was so forgiving. I would fall to pieces mentally if we chipped in a line, thinking that I had screwed it all up, or worse, ruined it for the horse. My trainer did the same thing Dan did: put poles out, lowered the fence and let me come around to doing it. My heart was still pounding, I could hear the blood rushing in my ears, but eventually I could breathe and connect with the mare to let the fences come to us. Thanks so much for taking us on this ride with you!

Meg have you thought about seeing a sports psychologist. I think it would be very beneficial for you as you are a very talented rider but The lack of confidence you have on yourself stops you from getting to those jumps. You are more than capable and it’s so frustrating to see you holding yourself back. Just remember you are totally capable, And you can go a lot further with that confidence in yourself because you are totally one of those riders that can get there. I wish that you could see what we see and you’re totally awesome you can do it.

Dan is great, he is so cheeky with a glint in his eye. His horses are gorgeous. Well done Meg, you could see and hear just how out of your comfort zone you were Are you going to see the wonderful grey Jim next?

I've ridden a great jumping horse in the past. A gelding, similar to the first horse in the video but almost completely white. He never refused a jump, but he was also very impatient about cantering. If you asked him to canter he was like "OMG yeeees, let's do it!" And if he was asked to jump the first obstacle he started enjoying it really much. But he was very very easy at the jumps. No speeding, no bucking, just a very clean jump. I love him! And he has deserved his retirement. What a great teacher he was! I've already been experienced with jumping but he teached me so much more, because he did all the work and i could focus fully on my own body.

I'm a really scared rider when it comes to jumping, and I wish I will find a trainer who is like Dan when I buy a horse and start jumping again! He seems like a really good teacher who gives you confidence!

Meg, you are a far better rider than what you give yourself credit for! You rode so so well here even though you were out of your comfort zone. Try to stop apologising so much and doubting your abilities (I know that is far easier said than done!)❤

Honestly loved this vlog so much! So educational watching both you and Dan ride. You should try and convince him to do a pt 2 of this series - I'd love to see how you'd handle Joy a second time with some time to reflrct on it 😁

I absolutely loved this video Meg! I think this is going to be a great Vlogmas, and I love how you don't cut anything out. You show how your feeling and I like that because there are parts of riding that I get really nervous for and seeing one of my idols feel the same is comforting. The way you just push on even with the nerves. I also bought Christmas merch and im super excited to get it and wear it. Love u Meg!!

Watching this makes me want to buy a larger horse now 😂 I to, am a pony rider. 5ft tall and generally don't feel comfortable on anything over 14.2hh but watching you on Joy makes me want to give the bigger horses a go. I love how you are showing just how you get back on after a fall like you had. I've had a few over the years and it always knocks the confidence no matter how bad it is. I admire you greatly to be honest and love this different style of vlogmas ❤
