I respect all your reasons, and heartily agree! I am getting enjoyment from finding beautiful yarn, buying it, feeling it, working with it, gifting objects made from it, thinking about new projects and using my finished objects. For one purchase, that's a lot of pleasure derived.

Do you happen to recall a photo project called "Material World: A Global Family Portrait" about 30 years ago? Families around the world were photographed in front of their homes with all their possessions. Wouldn't it be interesting to photograph people with all their yarn and their completed projects? I'm definitely on the hoarder spectrum.

LOL, I was amused and wondering if Paris was going to allow you to finish your podcast. Rug hooking is not hard, there are a lot of podcasts that teach it that you can watch on youtube. I collect yarns and patterns. I have an insane amount of both. Will I stop buying yarn now? I asked myself that and decided that is not a diet I want to even entertain. I decided that if I can't make it all up before I die, some thrifty person who manages to get part of my collection at Salvation Army is going to have the score of his or her life. My granddaughters also want a share. I weave, crochet and knit and I have fun weaving fabric from my yarns, make a bag from the resulting fabric, and line it out of my quilt fabric stash. I make no excuses for my obsession.

@@SoJustAsk A wonderful assemblage of hobbies! I scored that way once at Goodwill, when someone's gorgeous yarn collection ended up there, and again when a store disposed of bins full of tapestry wool. No regrets!

I bought many skeins of yarn in 2021-2022. I have 400+ skeins and am hoping to have 300 at the end of 2025. I can’t be motivated by supporting ppl or stores to keep them in business. ❤

I want to buy less yarn in 2025 because I went more than a little crazy in the final months of 2024. Cones. Sweater quantities. But I share your interest in supporting makers, small businesses, women in less developed countries, and by extension their children, shepherds, rare breeds, et cetera, et cetera. Several of my favorite yarn stores have closed. That needs to stop, so I need to knit knit knit and clear out some space for acquisitions. x x x

I have a wild idea in my mind: combining finger knitting (at least that's what it's called in German: Fingerstricken) with a peg loom. Instead of weaving with bulky yarn I envision knitting with it. So the pegs don't have to be removed to slide the weft onto the warp in order to create another row in the fabric, but doing the finger knitting movements instead. The pegs shouldn't be too long, though. Otherwise the tension would get too loose. I'd say 2 inches/5 cm max. Can you follow me? 😂

Your segment on rug hooking is actually punching per your purchased item. There is hooking but it is a different process. I've done both, but only successful with the hooking. The punching was a miserable failure! Good luck.
