Nice list, Bill. You include some that others haven't mentioned, but I always thought deserved a good look, like Comancheria.
@billthornton285211 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for watching and the comments. I like Comancheria although, it isn't easy to get a handle on. I believe I actually learned things about history playing it. Joel Toppen did a good job designing this as the follow-up to his Navajo Wars. I will get one of them on the table again but hesitate to estimate when.

nice video Bill, thanks for the heads up on a genre I've been looking to get into but don't quite know where to start. Might I suggest Nemo's War for you to check out, a fantastic thematic solo sub adventure set in Verne's 20,000 league world.

@billthornton28523 жыл бұрын
@@markkroynovich6267 Hi Mark. For solo play, I say check out the games at DVG.com. From those, I started with Phantom Leader Deluxe. For multi-player, a great entry level game is Memoir 44. It has historical scenarios in it. My grandson and I played it a month or so ago. GMT Games has a lot of war games. Some good solo ones not too complicated are Silent Victory or The Hunters both submarine warfare. Hope this helps you.

All the Victory Point Games are excellent as are the submarine games by Greg Smith. You can feel the tension in the submarines as you are hunted.
@billthornton2852 Жыл бұрын
Don't have any Victory Point games in my collections. I do have Silent Victory and The Hunted by G. Smith, and Raiders of the Deep by Ion Cooper which is part of the series designed by G. Smith. They are fun. I will have to watch this video as I probably have brought more into my collection since then. Thanks again for watching and the feedback, Much Appreciated.

Thank for watching. If you mean other that war games, then check out Wingspan and Rollplayer. Both can be played multi-player but have solo variants built in. Neither are too difficult to learn. As far as war games, Target for Today is solo, very thematic, not hard to learn but has a lot of referring to charts.

@@billthornton2852 - I was a USAF meteorologist, on the battle staff in Riyadh, during Desert Storm. My specialty was a computer program called the Mark IV Tactical Decision Aid, which consisted of weather data, sensor data, and target area data, all input, to provide a target acquisition range (TAR), and target lock on range(TLR). Knowledge of the weather and target provided the planners critical information needed to select the most suitable platform and weapon systems to accomplish the mission. A metal bridge, in the daylight, in the desert, crossing a river might be detected 30km away, so a standoff AGM-65 might be best. A tank, under camo, at night, with the engine off, in trees in northern Germany isn't going to be seen until you are right on top of it, so standoff weapons would be overkill. If this same tank had its engine running, then an IR seeker head would be PERFECT. TAL hits my sweet spot. First war where the weather guy was asked questions, BEFORE the mission package was complete.
