The number one song of all time not just 68 but of all time to this day is ‘MacArthur Park ‘by Jimmy Webb. I have met Jimmy Webb, and he has written so many songs, the worst that could happen by the Brooklyn Bridge, up up and away by the 5th Dimension, Wichita lineman, by the time I get to Phoenix, Galveston For glen Campbell, adios, and still within the sound of my voice for Linda Ronstadt. And the list goes on.

Jimmy Webb wrote some great songs, but sorry, I don't think the one crying about leaving a cake out in the rain was his best effort.
@jimpuff84092 жыл бұрын
@@racketman2u Its not about a cake in the rain, it’s about a relationship that he had. A lot of songs aren’t what they sound like, and I personally talked to him about it so I know the whole story. You have your own opinions and that’s fine. But I heard it right from his mouth what’s its about. And if you go to one of his concerts, or one of his get together‘s He’ll tell you the truth about the song. ✌️

@@jimpuff8409 still a dreadful song by an English actor trying to be a singer ( Richard Harris), horrible choice to be the vocalist. 😨 😰 😱
@jimpuff84092 жыл бұрын
@@michaelserby7697 And Richard Harris did a great job. Hey to each his own. He was a great stage actor also. That song is a masterpiece. You can’t compare that to the dreadful song stairway to heaven, which people make number one every year. MacArthur Park is a masterpiece ! You can feel the way you feel and so can I. ✌️

Young Girl is just one of multiple songs by Gary Puckett and the Union whose lyrics would be considered inappropriate today.

Seeing Gary Puckett out in a barn was curious; One of the Union Gap had a pitchfork instead of an instrument; It seemed odd, until I thought that it may have been a "tuning" fork😉

This year 1968 I graduated from high school. This was NOT the list of winners. And you have reproduced crummy sound quality. Kind of a mess altogether, don't believe this post. There were more good songs that year than in any other ten years since.
@yossarian67992 жыл бұрын
Like many, you're not understanding the raison d'etre of these "Best Songs" videos. It's the authors' personal favourites, not a compilation of the top-selling singles of the year. It's a very well-made video and the added commentaries are nice touch that's never seen in these compilations. Don't slag on someone's efforts simply because you don't like the same music. If you don't like the music (I can't stand some of these songs either - Canned Heat sound like Kermit the Frog), then comment on the music, not on the work the author put into creating the video. Get with the spirit and do what others have done... let us know some of YOUR favourites of the year. That's the whole point of these videos... to share and discuss with others our own likes and dislikes.
