These didn’t come with a lockup converter so the speedo and actual speed vary slightly ,I believe it can be 7 mph in difference. An offering of a differential can be found in a parts car from a w126 ,82-85 , It will bolt up to the car with a yolk swap from your original , the 2nd generation it’s mounts are non mountable , the 2.47 diff would bring the top speed up but the take off will be slower . A manual and auto would benefit on the highway but the clutch benefits with working around the shift points , my 4 spd w123 300dt euro spec with a 3.46 differential seems over worked at 65 mph but a great townie car
