Good day to you and really great videos. I believe you have a Cummins 5.9 under the hood, if that is the case, your all maxed out on rpm and power. Running that engine at those levels, you will kill rings and or throw.rods. If you have a cummins 5.9/8.3 engine, its only good for 2400 rpm max. Running that engine that high is also a guarentee to burn valves with extreme EGT's. Get a EGT guage. You need to look at tag on differential or call and get the build specs on your bus, and find out the gear ratio. If you are anything in ratios of 5's (5.13), you have to swap that diff out. 3.73 ratio is perfect. Next you need to goto a Cummins dealer and have the horsepower turned up to 300hp. Will cost $400. You can also jyst do a injector upgrade for $400 also (rv75) .This is if you have a Cummins 5.9 and VP44 injection. If you have a Allision MD-3060 or Allision MT643, 300hp no problem. If you have a Allision AT545, no matter what horsepower you have, that trans is already done or will be wiped out fast. Either way, look at tag on right side/passenger side door. If you have a DT466 engine, those high RPM's will cause extreme heat in the cylienders, create boiling cavitation and wipe the liner 'O' rings. Meaning a rebuild.

So no cdl needed even though it's over 26k gvwr? I will register it as RV, no cdl for your bus size?

You do not need any CDL for a RV no matter what weight class you have. If the vehicle was to be kept in commercial service, then yes. Air brakes or conventional hydraulic brakes make no difference. HOWEVER! DO NOT put a "roof top deck" on a bus, you will not get approved or your insurance will be canceled. Solar and related is fine. My profile pix is my bus, 2002 Thomas Freightliner.

I can remember what year you said your bus is? Mine is a 2001. Its a bluebird with a 8.3 Cummins and an Allison MD3060 transmission. I bought it in Georgia and it had a governor set at 55. We stopped at a Cummins dealer and they reprogrammed the CPU and removed the governor setting. We then drove it on home to Oregon. It would very easily do 75 and with a tail wind or down hill would do 80. It runs just as smooth as can be, and is easy to handle. It has 6 gears and the top gear is locked out, I am going to have an Alison dealer unlock 6th gear to help get a little better mileage out of it.

Most school buses only go to 60 or 65 mph, but I have seen a few reach 70. But this is because of the governor. Once that is removed, I'm sure it could max out the speedometer.

True. I looked into getting mine removed. I had to reach out to Allison to get a letter of approval to have it removed. They gave it to me. Now I just need to stop by a shop and have them do it

this one guy that posts videos on here worked for many school districts he said he had a boss who has a ungoverned bus that would go 85mph
