Clark was an oddity with her great 3 point shooting. But the fact remains that basketball is an entirely different game when played above the rim where men play the game. If a team is playing the game below the rim, they won't be able to beat a good boy's high school team, and b-ball fans know it. I can't watch the women play. The are slow, can't jump for the most part, and have to slow down when driving to the hoop in order to execute a layup. The big boys just slam the ball through the rim while running at full speed. If it wasn't for the hundreds of TV channels absolutely desperate for content, the WNBA would not have a TV contract.

It's size more than skills. The pro girls have great skills. It's just that the basket is 10' above the floor and they are not tall enough, and their hands are not big enough, to dunk a basketball. Some women's sports, tennis and golf, for example, are great fun to watch. The tennis ball doesn't move as fast, and the golf ball doesn't fly as far, but a good argument could be made that modern male players have outgrown the size of the tennis court and their serve and volley way of playing is far less entertaining than watching girls trade a dozen or so ground strokes before a point is won, and the lady golfers can just play a 6,500 yd. course rather than a 7,800 yd. one and show some tremendous skills. The size of a b-ball court, and the distance of the rim above the floor, are constants that lead to very adverse comparisons between the women's game and the men's game.

@@chungtatshum6581 I'm not sure how that would go. The pro players have been shooting at that 10' hoop for well over a decade and might have a hard time adjusting to a lower hoop. If they do lower the hoop, they should also use a smaller b-ball, too. But you'd have to initiate those changes back in high school and junior high, and that might be tough on the tens of thousands of schools who don't have adjustable hoop hights built into their gyms.

My favorite complaint from the WNBA is how big a difference in pay there is between them and the NBA. I’ll agree with them on that, both leagues should be making the same amount… they should be making what the WNBA makes right now. Enough with putting these one trick ponies on such high pedestals compared to the people who actually make society function. We can survive without sports, but good luck surviving without those out there doing the dirty work for the rest of us.
