Chad, I heard the “camera overheating” issue with your video and I’ve heard it from many anglers on other channels. I suggested this to John Dalton at “Creek Fishing Adventures” and thought I’d share it with you as well. It seems that the combination of heat from the sun and the heat generated by the camera itself are the issue, so if you can eliminate or reduce the heat from the sun it may solve the issue. My suggestion is to go buy one of those cheap silver heat shields you put in your car to block the sun. Next, cut out a portion that you can use glue or silicone to shape in a way that covers the top, back and sides of the camera and connect it to the top of the camera with Velcro for easy removal. I think that might do the trick. I’ll be happy to help or discuss further if you’d like.

Thanks Walter. I’ve looked into a solution like that and a silicone cover that’s supposed to do the same thing. The problem is that it’s happening when it really isn’t in direct sunlight or when it’s not even that hot. I think it’s mostly because I’m powering the cameras with an external battery and may be using too high of a charge setting because it doesn’t happen if I unplug it from the Power Box, which sucks because the GoPro batteries don’t last very long at all. That being said, I had been filming hard for several days in really high heat and it happened this time when it “should have” if that makes sense. A buddy of mine suggested using aluminum foil around them to reflect the heat as well. I’m going to keep experimenting and I will let you all know what I end up going with as a solution or if the problem continues.

@@ChadHooverFishing Thanks for getting back to me. I have fished with Nick and JG several times and they put me on some big smallies. I enjoyed your videos on that stretch of water with those guys. I live in Brentwood and either wade or fish from my kayak. I enjoy your videos and I always learn something from the content. Off to get some red/ orange crank baits!

There are literally 6 to 10 amazing rivers to fish there. The Tennessee River, Holston, Ocoee, French Broad and several others
