Top Ten BEST Minifigs of 2022 - LEGO Awards!

Where is Commander Cody? Much like everyone, I have been eagerly anticipating a Phase 2 Cody for years. This list, however, is meant to highlight minifigures that are good because of production value, quality, and many other factors. I WANT a lot of minifigures, but once they are made, they probably wouldn’t appear on a top 10 best minifigures list. A prime example of this would be a lot of missing Ninjago figures - I want them a ton, but if made they probably wouldn’t be the absolute best figures. Cody is great to have, but is missing a lot of details I think are pretty important to include on clones. For starters, he has very distinctive dual-color arms in his media appearances. The set opted to just use single color arms with no printing - which I understand keeps him uniform with the rest of the clones, but IMO could have been a little better executed. The rest of the graphic design basically takes the P2 clone template from last year and adds dirt, weathering, and orange paint. It’s great and accurate, but not the most interesting new design for a figure. The only brand new thing about him is the new helmet mold to accommodate the recolored visor (and of course the head underneath), but even that only fixes a big issue the previous helmets had, and just feels like a long overdue correction rather than a major innovation or something special. And again, it’s all just my opinion :)

This video convinced me to pick up the Chang'e Minifigure and now you are going to pay for it! The whole world will! First off! Ninjago 2042 is coming...the year the world runs out of oil. Chang'e (the world's biggest streamer) arrives from the moon to award jay an in-person ASMR session. Nya becomes livid at jay for digital cheating! Turns out though, Nya listened to her more than Jay! Pot twist! It's then that Nya discovers...UH OHH, because Chang''e has the moon amulet in her possession, she can crash the moon into the earth! Mama Mia! With this raw power Chang'e can coerce anyone to do whatever she wants! And guess what? She most certainly does! The Ninja must scramble to the moon to steal the amulet because the ninja are a bunch of thieves! Things get tense when they raid Chang'e's picnic and Jay fails to call her the most beautiful girl in all time and space! Stupid Jay, sometimes it's just best to make your woman jealous!.. Chang'e who is emotionally "hurt" decides to blow up the rocket ship the ninja rode in on. Yikes! No way home...Whatever will the ninja do to get out of this one? Find out in Ninjago 2042!!!! BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? THIS IS REEAAALLLYYYY HAPPENING!

Putting all 4 Ninjago figures at Number 1 was such a power move. A *Dragon* Power move that is. Also, goodness me, this is the 3rd time in the last 4 years that Ninjago claimed the Number 1 spot on your best minifig list. They are absolutely killing it with these transparent and duel molded figs, those are the features that are consistently putting Ninjago up at the top and I seriously respect them for pushing the envelope in these areas!

26:42 Good news! This C-3PO is appearing in another non UCS set, the $140 buildable C-3PO. This means they can continue to use this premium quality silver leg design for other minifigures in the future! That makes 4 previously UCS set exclusive minifigures now available in cheaper sets of varying prices, the clone trooper commander, Captain Rex, UCS X Wing Pilot Luke, & now silver leg C-3PO. I will always take premium quality versions of minifigures in multiple sets to make them more available to the public, just like Lego did with the Boba Fett & Darth Vader mechs in 2023 where both of those minifigures included arm printing.

Dragon zane is also my favorite. Zane is also my favorite ninja. There is also a comic where dragon zane comes in, and in my country it comes out tomorrow do I am going to rush to the store as soon as I get out of school. I am very happy he is included in with that comic because now I don't have to buy an expensive set for only that minifigure

Good news! Golden Dragon Jay also exists in a European magazine (I think it's called a "Book" in brickset/bricklink though - also not yet listed on those websites yet)! Bad news: it doesn't come with the wings :(

I've got the Kai Golden Dragon minifig from the regular magazine. Still waiting to see the Zane Golden Dragon magazine issue to be available in my area, but definitely will get it when it is. And I have that Jay Golden Dragon from that one weird magazine/book (will have to order the wings from Bricklink). Now waiting for Cole Golden Dragon to also appear in a magazine, but my hopes aren't high up on that one :( There was already an issue with a Crystalised Cole minifig which makes me think they won't release him in his Golden Dragon form

People were not complaining that we got a queen instead of a king. People were disappointed because in a $400 set, we should have gotten BOTH a king and a queen for once. Second, nobody complained that we got a female knight. Just like nobody complained that one of the knights in the Blacksmith set was female. They complained about ALL the Lion Knights knights being female. This is a fantasy set, but such a thing makes it difficult to suspend disbelief. People seem to assume that the shields, swords, and bodywear knights wore back in the day were as light as paper. Female knights were not viable for technical reasons. Its OK to include female knights because you can suspend disbelief by saying certain female were exceptional, far stronger than the average female. But thats about it.

I’ve seen some people complaining about the queen and other girls being knights in the set. Especially the queen being in the set.

@@legoben98productions It’s because they are all female. It becomes difficult to suspend disbelief with something so unbelievable. If the king was make or if more of the knights were male, you would not have had nearly as many complainers. And those complaining about not getting a king and queen were right.

@@somethingawesome9547 the lion knights are 50/50 with gender diversity, without the queen being the leader. It’d be great if they were able to put a king, but they were able to put so many other characters to add more story and conflict with the black falcons, forestsmen, and a couple of citizens that I think that it’s fine. I honestly would think of that there’s no king currently in the kingdom due to passing, or it’s a next generation situation.

You missed some of the cool ones in the City Stuntz theme.... but yes, the Horizon ones and Ninjago ones are great. The Obiwan droid though, nice really want to have but that set ... can't justify to buy it for one figure

My #2 is ned-b because he looks adorable for a star wars droid... Lastly my #1 favorite is golden dragon kai because red and gold is like a color scheme of a Chinese flag... that's all...

I love the number of female knights. There were NEVER enough female characters for Lego castle. As a kid you created stories with your minifigs and you needed females for the knights to come home to. This was always difficult. I had a child apprentice of Majesto where I used a modified 2x1 brick as legs before short legs came out and I ended up using female faces from Ice Planet and the Islanders sets as well as purchasing hair piece bags which had female hair that I used on smiley faced prints. Now with the new castle it works well in my own lore. The Royal Knights team up with the lion knights because...the king and his knights are lonely. LOL.What all male army wouldn't want to team up with the army with a large number of females? For me anyway it works perfect. Besides, if you dont like the female faces you can always put those ones behind the face guard helmets for battle scenes etc.

I’m sorry but how many knights in the set are that were women? I recall 3 female knights in the set, most are still male. Plus it’s still a lot of figures with a handful of combinations to make your copy unique to others.
