Thank you for this talk Steve. This is info that I can use. I live and fish on the Texas gulf coast and fishing the Keys is on my bucket list. I'm not real focused on any certain species, I just want to have fun. I think this series of talks will be invaluable to seeing that old timers like myself make the most of it. The Florida tourist bureau owes you a huge debt of thanks.

Great information Steve!!!! I was just in Marathon about three weeks ago for my first time/trip to the Keys. This is the main reason that I subscribed to your channel (and purchased some items from you) is because of your advise and teachings!!! We definitely had a successful trip, but probably would not have without some of the knowledge and experiences that you shared. Keep up the great work!!!! Thanks for sharing!! Tight Lines!!

Haha, I totally stayed at the Sea Cove the last time I was in the Keys a couple years ago. Totally worth it for a place to crash after a long day fishing from my SUP...

Hey Steve, What a great idea! Thank you for doing this kind of breakdown for those of us who come down to the Keys on vacation. Keep up the great work and tight lines my friend!

Really Great vid Steve. I would fly down for 3 weeks every year to spend with my dad. We'd take out his flats boat. He would take me to his spots, and he followed everything I see you do. Hopefully I'll be down there for good, in 3 more years. I am a kayak angler, and can't wait to someday, learn the beautiful keys. 😎 🌊 🎣

Thanks for this Steve! I shared this with the Salt Strong community and believe me they're going to be appreciative of this! You'd be surprised the amount of posts that are not prepared fishing the keys. It's great guidance for the newcomers heading down there. There's members that know you for years as well in the community that I didn't know when I posted this! Can't wait to see the next part! You're bad eating Smurfette.

Totally agree with your videos. Fellow collector just bought a tackle collection by me. Guy lived in the Keys for years. One lure he used was an actual spoon with the handle cut off. Caught tons of fish with that. Think he started a tackle shop in the Keys in the 40s.

The one time I visited the keys, the last storm of the season rolled through as a tropical storm. Rained out my hotel on Islamorada. Had to say in key west. Weather was awful but still caught some fish. Can't imagine how good it would be if the weather was good.

Keep it simple. Basic knocker rig, float rig, and a surface plug. Pilchards and shrimp for bait. Throw it by any structure. You'll catch something. Who knows what though.

I can relate to sleeping on the fishing pier. Just told a homeless guy that may be moving across the bay but was afraid of police enforcement on camping. He’s not a wacko or a fisherman. I offered him a fishing setup for his trip. Just cast out & take a nap. Don’t even need bait.

Thanks. Good to know before you go, and at this point, I'll probably take a pass. Super clear water and pressured populations are available right here, minus the three day drive. No doubt the scenery is lovely, the sunsets beautiful, and the dinners fresh-caught. But, the Eastern corner of the Panhandle has all that, plus real beaches, a days drive closer, with frozen chum a rarity. Then there's bridge fishing 30-40 ft. in the air. "Standing around & cranking them up" has zero appeal, and dropping a net adds hassle and expense. Fine if you live nearby, but on vacation, why bother?

If you're coming to The Keys to fish from your own boat.... watch and study Steve's clips. He lays out the play book. He has clips with Google maps and red lines. Literally a pirate map... X marks the spot. He shows his live bait catching. His artificial baits. His rods. All tackle... Every species you can catch.... bait, table fish, sports fish, lobster, crabs, EVERYTHING... He shows HOW to fish for each type of fish and where.... deep water, flats, mangroves, current, flats, channels, reefs, drop offs, trolling, drifting, anchor..... If you come to The Keys and don't study Steve's clips..... You deserve to catch less fish. Nobody makes it any easier. If you're gonna drag a boat of any size, rod, tackle, nets, glasses, hats, coolers, ect.... spend money on gas, hotels, vacation time, food etc... and NOT take 1-2 hours a day for 6-8 weeks watching Steve's clips BEFORE arriving.... If you think this clips is "enough"... You are going to do way more fishing and way less catching. If you are an avid salt water fisherman already.... His clips are still needed. If not..... FOCUS on mangrove snapper 1st. That's the highest percentage for successful fishing with the highest chance of lucking into something else.... tarpon, barracuda, snook, grouper, trout, red, Jack, SHARK..... He shows how to filet and cook. Eat sushi.... Saviche (sp)..... Where to launch. Everything is SPELLED OUT ! Steve.... Make no mistake, you ARE the best coach fisherman in the WORLD. Nobody teaches more about everything than you have. You are the G.O.A.T..... Thanks. P.S. His online shopping is top notch too. I have bought soft plastics, hats, jigs, shirts.... He stuff shows up quickly....

Expecting to catch keeper fish is mistake number one. My buddy spent $5,000 on lodging, boat, etc. for a week. He caught a couple small yellow tails and a couple lobsters. The place is overfished
