It is almost impossible to see a racoon in the middle of the sea so I believe this is a pet racoon probably fell off from the boat of his owner, clearly this racoons behavior is tamed and not running after he woked up, poor racoon don't have survival instincts.

I think your fishing day is over unless you just leave it. I guess this guy doesn’t know about rabies, and other diseases.

I would take him to where the man came from so the little critter would have better chance to get enough food and live.

Such a fun video. Nice rescue. I kayak here in michigan quite often never had a raccoon but plenty of birds of landed on my kayak.

Thanks for putting this together. It's much clearer and step-by-step than a couple other videos I watched. I followed the steps on my Suzuki 2.5 and after about 40 minutes' work it is running great now. Well done! The only other thing I would mention is to be sure to clean out those 3 or 4 very tiny openings in the wall on the throttle side of the carb where the butterfly is. They're so tiny they are easy to miss. Spray a bunch of carb cleaner in there and then blow them out with compressed air. Maybe use a piece of thin floral wire to clean them.

Steve i believe is the best Saltwater kayak fishing angler in Florida. All the fish I've seen him land, and safely release is amazing. Not to mention his skill, experience, and knowledge. 😎 🎣 🛶

Could the raccoon have been rabid? Biting the boat? Irrational behavior?

Why this channel isn't far bigger is beyond me. Not many fishermen going out 600 in a kayak landing big boys like this. You are a Grinder brother, and can only hope you blow up far bigger than so many other sappy channels

How did the raccoon get in the ocean in the first place?? And so far away from the mainland? Do raccoons live on that island (before now)? I hope he has a more natural diet than raiding people's trash.

I have my 2.5 on a square end canoe with the same Hobbie outrigger, mine folds for sneaking through the Sypris trees. 2.5 runs good but doesn't hold a consistent idle. Cleaned out all the carb jets several times. wondering if I should drill out the hidden needle valve cover to try adjusting that. ( it used to idle really nice)

Raccoons are typically nocturnal or crepuscular animals so this little guy was probably swimming for hours and hours past when he would normally hunker down to sleep before you found him. Makes sense that he was completely knocked out for so long once he got on your kayak. Trash pandas are pretty cool, relatively smart, animals. I once had the opportunity to bottle feed some baby raccoons at a local wildlife rescue and rehab place.

Thank you Sir! A real gentleman and a savior to a raccoon. I love to watch what those trash pandas do. I never expected to see one swimming so hard to save his life. He had a real choice, climb aboard the kayak or keep swimming. I’m glad he chose the Raccoon Rescue kayak. I wonder how the little guy found himself in such a pickle? Sir, I do appreciate your kindness in saving the little trash panda. He’ll live to an old because of a chance meet with you!

hang on... Steve . what was the name you used for those fish? Did you say fall fish? I've seen things in Cuba that my guide always calls filo fish or something like that.. can't figure out what he is saying or find them online... Always in the same sort of scenarios as what you have here. Please help me solve this mystery Steve!!
