And this is why I'll always have a special place in my heart for the person who uploaded ebook versions of every Wilderness Years book for free download online. I've searched in brick and mortar stores in 2 different countries for some, and in 6 years, I've managed to find 3 books. And none of them have even been VNA. 2 were NSA and 1 was an EDA book, the Janus Conjunction. I hear EDA had a rather tight continuity between books, but I understood it just fine, thankfully.

The eBook versions are indeed really handy if you're having issues getting the psyical copies.

@@JulesBurt I think it was karma for the time I gave them most of my Who vhs, I assured the (very cynical) staff at St Peters Hospice they would sell so not to let them go for any less than a 5er apparently it was one of their biggest earners.

The browning can also be put down to the chemicals released from the book itself. With it being bagged, the gases tan the white pages. It happens with comic books.

And definitely keep them out of light because the acid/bleach in the paper reacts badly with sunlight. I try to keep most of my books either in drawers now or hang a cloth over the front of the bookcase.

It's sad but true, definitely with more recent books, trying to keep them new is tough👍

@@JulesBurt Yes, some of the 1930s paperbacks I have are on much better quality paper and don't seem to have aged as badly as ones from decades later. I guess paper pulp had a much higher rag content (rather than bleached wood) in those days.

Great to seethese books again 👍 I still have some Target novels (reprints) & VNA novels (originals). However they have been read and on bookshelves so I doubt they'd have much value now. Thanks 😀

Lungbarrow is my personal favourite Doctor Who story of all time. My copy was an old school library book I got from a second hand bookstore and I read it until it became a tattered mess and fell apart. I've been trying to get myself a mint copy for quite some years but living in Australia now I find old Doctor Who merch is scarce here .... Not even sure if they shipped the books here when originally released. Timewyrm is very cool... Borrowed that one off my mate so many times I almost did own it 😂 Loved the video.... Thanks for again making me jealous 😥
@JulesBurt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend, but these copies aren't mine, they were borrowed off a mate who bought them all from new. I guess they are scarce in Oz, but some must have been exported at the time.

My copy came from "Bookends" which had slightly damaged copies (but not 2nd hand) for a much cheaper price. Annoying sticky price label on the front! I eventually sold it on Ebay a decade or two later. Damaged Goods, Godengine and Just War were also easily available then - I own them but haven't read them. Return of the Living Dad went for a surprisingly large amount when I sold it.

The same bookshop ordered The Dying Days for me, I waited weeks then they said they couldn't get it as it was sold out. They'd flubbed the order. Most annoying as I pre-ordered it to make sure. They deserved to go out of business :)

Yeah, they did ship copies to Australia. I remember buying them new back in the day, including some of the later ones. I think Lungbarrow was particularly scarce though, I don't remember seeing that one around. Possibly scarcer here than in the UK though - I hardly ever see any of the Virgin or BBC books in the second hand bookshops any more (not that there are even many of those left).

Dang, I used to have a whole bunch of these back in the day and foolishly got rid of them (Timewyrm: Genesis, Happy Endings, GodEngine, Damaged Goods and Dying Days). Now that I'm collecting them again I really regret it. I was lucky enough to stumble cross cheap copies of So Vile a Sin and Dead Romance at a local second hand bookshop in the last year though. The hunt continues!

I've started off my collection this year, it's become a very expensive hobby! But also very fun watching the ebay auctions for some of the big ticket items. On an unrelated note, do you know where to get the plastic covers all of these are in? Or at least a proper name for the product? I can't seem to find anything except for clear contacting which I definitely don't want to do!

Patience is key with these. Eventually they'll all turn up at a decent price. The cheapest firm of protecting them is just in standard comic bags 🙂

A little surprised about number 1 since there’s multiple of them going for about £30 on eBay right now.
