No, he was missing a decent bit of RPGs, for example: Evolution 2, Phantasy Star online version 1, Pier Solar HD, Dragonriders Chronicles of Pern, 7th Cross Evolution, Zia and the Goddesses of Magic, Draconis Cult of Wrym, Gauntlet Legends, Armada None of those were mentioned

@@marcrics those are RPGs on that list they are mostly RPGs that weren't released in North America or Europe. Most of those came out in Japan. There were 9 RPGs released in North America that weren't included on that list.

I don't know that I would personally qualify Shenmue as an RPG, at least in the sense of the video game genre. More like a Sandbox Action Adventure games with the barest of RPG mechanics.

Like Don Mateo said, Shenmue belongs to a genre all of its own. That being said, an existing genre it comes closest to would probably be point-and-click adventure.

I love the Dreamcast so much. I clicked mine on last 9/9 for the first time in a really long time, and I totally forgot how loud the system was. It's a whirring jet engine lol.

Sakura Wars 3 is my favorite Dreamcast game and the best on the system IMO. It unfortunately never came outside Japan, but there's an awesome translation guide that translates almost all the conversation on gamefaqs.

Wow, Elemental Gimmick Gear looks so gorgeous. I would love to have been able to play it. Skies of Arcadia has to be one of the games I desire to try and play the most. I have heard nothing but amazing things about it, but I just don't think I'll be able to do so without an emulator or by picking up a Dreamcast. I am hoping for a re-issue!

You could try the Legends version of Skies of Arcadia on the GameCube, which has added content an a less egregious encounter rate. I think that the quality of its music took a hit in exchange, though.

One game that never makes the list is Draconus! I remember being blown away by it's amazing graphics, and really fun beat-em-up style,,,,The major flaw in the game thopugh was the comically bad voice acting! 🤣🤣

Panzer Dragoon Saga did not aged well. If you get a chance, try playing it again, it's almost unplayable with the standard Saturn controller....

Skies of Arcadia is one of my top 10 JRPGs of all time. Luckily it's on the DC because the DC is really shit when it comes to RPG games. I suspect that's why this list had to be padded with non RPGs Shenmue and also some mediocre ones too like Time Stalkers.

I guess language would be a problem, but I'd recommend Sakura Wars 1-4 if you can understand Japanese or just enjoy 3D turn based combat, which evolved into Valkyria Chronicles's system

Skies of Arcadia is mad game, one of best and uncommon gameplays in history. All that ship battles and upgrading was so interesting. And discovering artifacts and little isles

I remember playing evolution worlds on the GameCube and having a good time. Never beat it though. Also i've heard shenmue hasn't aged all that well and does it even qualify as an RPG? Good list though i didn't know that the Dreamcast even had 10 RPGs

Play Shenmue to judge that for yourself, I played it for the first time five years ago at the age of 17. I consider Shenmue I & II masterpieces.

Shenmue 1 is better than 2 for two reasons the first you can get lost in the second one since the maps are way too big two you get to drive a forklift and make a lot of money instead of carrying boxes.

I love one and two the same. But if you play 2 long enough you will learn to love the size. And money comes way easier in the second game. Gambling is the way to go big or small got me more money then I could ever use.

I was hoping you would have shown RPGs I've never heard about on the console. All of these top 10's are usual the same from all KZbinrs with those games you mentioned. We all know Skies of Arcadia is great, it's one of my favorites and so is Grandia 2 but I was hoping for some "hidden gems". Also, Shenmue I wouldn't count as an RPG in my opinion. It's good but not the best on the Dreamcast.

Can’t believe time stalkers was higher than anything on this list. It’s pretty bad. Graphics are a 3/10 story is like a 5 or 6/10 gameplay is a 4/10 it’s not recommended to buy time stalkers over silver or EGG
