Awesome. Keep up the great work. Funny enough, the only one of those rums I don't have is the Don Q. By the way, I got two bottles of Rhum Bolongne. One of the black Cane and one of their baseline offerings. Since I tasted the first time, I've been microdosing it day after day. It was one of the most interesting rums I've ever tasted.

To be honest, I didn’t think much of DonQ until I went to the distillery. They are doing some amazing things and their rum’s are unadulterated. I love Bologne Black Cane such a good option. I only wish that there other offerings were imported into the US.

hey, loving the vids doing my own rum journey, I've yet to try some of these, barbancourt and don Q are definitely two i think i might love. jealous of your collection and being able to access the US market but I imagine the UK has some you miss out on too. Manchester Rumfest again this year can't wait

There’s actually quite a few brands that you get that we do not in the US. Companies des Indies, SBS, Havana Club (Cuba) just to name a few. Not to mention some amazing rum that’s distilled over there: Ninefold, Dropworks, Outer Distilling. PS Barbancourt is amazing 😋

My neighbor gave me a bottle of Goslings Black Seal rum bottled in the 70's. Haven't tried it yet but will do so soon. Thinking of buying a new bottle to compare.

When I first saw the title of this video, I though "Uh oh, here we go"... I was wrong. These are great recommendations for the reasons that you state. A good variety of representations of what rum is and can be. Well done.

Thank you for giving the video a chance! I really wanted to represent the diversity of rum and offer her a wide array as people tend to come from rum from with different flavor profiles 👍🏻

Great selection but imho miss Ron Abuelo 7 years old. Panama’s gift to to the drinking world. Not too dry, not too sweet, great mixer, yummy on a rock or two.
@therumchampion23 күн бұрын
Abuelo is a bit too sweet for me now. For Central/South American rums apart from Don Q and Flor de Caña I really like Carúpano.

It's great that people can enjoy drinking in moderation, i envy you but i had to quit 😂 drank myself into oblivion and eventually stopped took it up last year again but even the smallest amount gives me a sick feeling for days for example i had 4 beer's felt sick for 3 days and had anxiety and depression for 2 weeks but great video all the same

For me, I have 650+ rums at home BUT 95% of them are 80% full or more. I really see sipping room as a deep appreciation for the people that have made it and the expression that they want to share with the world. Also, hangovers are a massive deterrent for me drinking an excess 🤣🤣

Thoughts on Ron Zacapa rums?
@therumchampion3 сағат бұрын
When I first started out, Zacapa was the bees knees. Now that I’ve tried so many rums I personally find Zacapa a bit too sweet for me, personally.
@RobFoglesong3 сағат бұрын
@therumchampion that's fair. When I started collecting, I had a bottle of zacapa 23 and Grand Reserva Zaya. I still buy bottles of Zaya occasionally, but I did pick up a Zacapa XO recently at a duty free shop in Mexico since I hadn't seen one where I live in some time. Based on your video and some others, I recently picked up an Appleton estate 12 yo rare casks, and Diplomatico. I'm definitely picking up that El Dorado 12 as well.

so you like drier rhums, intersting, the ron buelo 7 yer old is superb, nd not overly sweet, i drink it with splsh of ginger beer, delish......

My preference is high proof rum with no added sugar and sip it neat without ice. That said, rum is like Burger King: have it your way!

If you had to pick one rum from this list to start with, what would it be?
@therumchampion3 ай бұрын
That’s really tough! I’d say if you’ve never sipped spirits neat, then Rhum Barbancourt 8 Year. If you’re into lower whiskies, Doorly’s 12 Year. Higher proof whiskies, Privateer Botted-in-Bond. I could keep going, but don’t want to make this reply an essay lol

I personally would not consider Myers a sipping rum. It was developed in 1878 specifically as a rum for the Planter’s Punch cocktail. But if you like sipping it near, awesome! You may want to consider Appleton 12 or Monymusk Special Reserve at that $50 mark.

Late to the party but here's my thoughts: Flor de Cana: A great Nicaraguan rum that has a flavor closer to true Puerto Rican rum not the swill a certain batty company puts out these days . I use the silver and gold as well mixers especially if the recipe calls for Puerto Rican rum. Don Q: Still made by Bacardi though of a better quality than their well rums. I've not tried the aged version yet. Doorly's: Quintessential Barbados rum that I was introduced to whilst on holiday in Barbados. I'm glad its getting more shelf space stateside. Overall, an excellent sipping rum and not to expensive to use as a mixer for Tiki drinks calling for Barbados rum. Chairman's Reserve: Never tried this one so no opinion Rhum JM: Ah Martinique rhum agricole a very brandy like interpretation of rum. Very hard to get stateside, mostly shows up in waves then disappears for a couple years to come back again. I love anything from Martinique. Barbancourt: Oh yes, drink this stuff and you'll be seeing Baron Samedi dancing in the moonlight. Too harsh of a finish for me to consider it a sipping rum. ElDorado 12yr: Guiana produces some of the best rums in the Caribbean hands down, I have a collection of ElDorado rums for mixing and sipping. Appleton estate 12yr: A good sipping run that has be muddied over the years. Not truly 100% Jamaican it has other rums mixed in. I keep this to use for making original Mai Tai cocktails 1oz appleton 12yr with 1/2oz wray and nephew gives a good approximation of the original wray and nephew 15 year they were using before it ran out and was never made again. the last 2 I have never seen in my state. Finally, the rum you forgot: Diplomatico: My only sipping rum I keep around just for sipping and not mixing.

Thanks for your thoughts and for checking out my video: A few correction points: 1) Don Q is distilled at Destilería Serrallés and has been for 160 years, long before Bacardi came to PR. They’re also not owned by Bacardi in any way. 2) Guyana not Guiana. Confusing for sure since one of the neighboring countries is French Guiana For Barbancourt, are you sure you’re not getting it mixed up with Clairin? I’ve never heard anyone describe Barbancourt as too harsh.
