I loooove my Millar longneck soprano! Lucky to get my hands on one, by the sound of it. Great list!

Matt, I am so glad you started off with the Ohana BKT-70G. I bought one of those from you and I absolutely love it! I struggle with a Baritone scale, that's why I only have one. But the Tenor scale of the BKT-70G is so comfortable to play and with having a low G on mine, it has a wonderful beautiful mellow tone. I love quirky instruments. I hope to own a Millar one day! Those instruments are wonderful at their price point. Thanks Matt!

Thanks Matt, nice to hear a specialists honest appraisal of what they like, also shows newcomers who are producing quality instruments at great prices on the list. Benefits us all when you find producers such as Millar, Uma and Uluru. Thanks really enjoyed this.

Thanks Mike - that's great. I really am not bothered about selling the most expensive, unless that is what suits the customer best. I'm not very ruthless when it comes to sales - but hopefully honesty is the best policy!

Hello Matt and thank you for this wonderful video mate. It's Jon here in Tasmania. I can't believe I actually own one of these - the Baton Rouge 8-string baritone! I absolutely adore it and thank you so much for the incredibly prompt and efficient way you handled what was a big order from me a short while back. To the ukes - for me, the Millar models stood out clearly, and the Umas also very appealing. Thank you for what you do mate!

Thanks Daniel. I love that soprano too - in theory I shouldn't like playing it so much, being a tenor man, but it really does it for me!

Honestly I like your channel. I recently as a retirement hobby built two Tenors from scratch and a Baritone from a Stewmac kit. I also the other day picked up, at a garage sale, a Kala Makala MK-B. I was impressed by the Kala made Ukulele I had picked up. I am reasonably sure it's all laminate as opposed to either all solid wood as in the scratch built Tenors or solid Mahogany top as on the Stewmac kit. Yet, it sounds really good and it's set up thus playability was spot on. I actually practice on it over my solid top Baritone. So, yes. While solid wood with the bells and whistles of wood binding and pearl inlay is almost a guaranteed great sounding instrument one can have or nearly have a similar sound from a well designed and built laminate instrument at far less cost.

Great selection. I love that you always pick a wide arrange of styles and price points - not just the best quality at the highest price. I have the Ohana BKT-70G Tenor/Baritone. I put Worth brown GCEA low G strings on it I and I love it. I am intrigued with the Baton Rouge VX1/B8-CB 8-String Baritone. What a great sounding baritone at a great price. Most people would not have included that just because of the lower pricing.
@WorldofUkes

Thanks Steven, and glad you've tried low G with yours - I can imagine the CEA being Worths rather than Aquila would be an improvement too. I do like value for money - I suppose I could have done 10 ukes over £1,000 as 'the best' but not everyone can spend that, and there are some gems for not as much money... That Baton Rouge with silly long name is lots of fun for example!

Matt, you are simply my favourite uke seller out there, with the great guys at southernukulestore coming in at a close second. Your blessed with humour and a charming way, full of insights into the (pun intended) world of ukes, interested firstly in making your customers happy! Hope to be in touch soon! I'll give you kind regards from Martin and Sabine, too, we jammed with other guys two times in a park in Alzenau recently. And my beloved Millar Longneck Mango Soprano always gets passed around the jam people and gets a lot of praise , too! Quote: "So, Martin in Germany, I'll do my best not to drop the ukulele..." *drops the Millar ukulele* 🤣😅

I'm glad you got to play in the park in Alzenau, I'd love to go back! (Although when we last went it was February, so it was more of a hurried walk through the park than a jam!)

Fabulous video of your Top Ten 2022 ukeleles Matt! Oh….so much choice & so many good ones. I love the Millars for their appealing sound & looks, same with the Uma Moon SC-concert. Your own uke, the Uluru, is super smooth sounding but out of my league financially. Believe it or not, the one I want most & which would suit my playing "style" is…….the Baton Rouge VX1/B8 Baritone!! 😁x

Given how much you like Millars and cedar, I was a bit surprised you picked the mahogany Millar TM-260WG as your favorite Millar in the Top Ten for 2021. 🙂 It's good to hear your opinion about the cedar Millars.
@WorldofUkes
@WorldofUkes 2 жыл бұрын
I do like Mahogany as well - and find that TM-260WG, with its Worth Strings and gloss finish has a bit more chime, brightness and control than some mahogany ukes. I probably like it as it's leaning towards cedar in tone perhaps!

What tenor ukulele would you buy for someone at an intermediate level and you had 1000-1500 to spend?ciao, John
@WorldofUkes
@WorldofUkes Жыл бұрын
Well I would say that budget is probably more than it needs to be. I might go for a Singer RT1M-TS (below that budget). Or if determined to spend that much, the anuenue UT-200 at £1,299.

@@WorldofUkes I really appreciate your help… just one more question.. I have relatively small hands and short fingers, and some stretches are too tough for me… I want a tenor. Are there any tenor models that have fingerboards that are easier to handle, or are they all the same? What specs should I be looking for?
@WorldofUkes
@WorldofUkes Жыл бұрын
@@johnnacke2017 The length of the fingerboard will be the same from model to model - but some are wider than others. The aNueNues are not the thinnest, but also not what you'd class as wide. (Standard is 35mm, they are 36mm, wide would be 38mm). I would think that is fine, just to steer clear of any specifically wide neck models?
