Yeah, a really, really huge red flag for that fight is that it breaks one of the biggest conventions of Soulsborne: it doesn't reset when you die. And yet you'll die all the time, even though it only takes like 4 hits to kill!

The kissing thing is just stupid to me. I never thought it was "oh mah gerd dis is the wurst game evr now! Beestiality!!!!" Just made me cringe when people brought it up. Doesn't mean I defend it, but it's not bestiality, it's an anthro. And it's the story. When has a Sonic story been *original* and good? Unleashed was fine, but it was that typical "go around the world for X" cliché. I love Black Knight, but the story wasn't original, just very well made in the Sonic universe. Secret Rings is the same thing. SA1's suffered from blending six stories at once, SA2 was just poorly built upon, Heroes was basic, Shadow was fuckin' stupid, and '06 had the potential to be great, but just suffered from pretty terrible story telling. The story could be good if they weren't humanoids and if the story wasn't so... stupid at times.

You know, if the Imprisoned had just been the third fight, it would've been pretty cool. I liked that fight since it changed the way you did damage each time. Maybe the other fights could've been replaced with a simple cinematic showing the seal beginning to break.

Totally agree with the final boss in Arkham Asylum. I remember playing it while my friend watched and we both looked at each other in total disbelief. It was downright shocking to see such a perfectly written villain reduced to that. Something tells me that wasn't supposed to be the original ending.

I loved Nihilanth's battle. You had to utilize your weapons and knowledge of the game to shoot him down very slowly, and every time you were transported to a different dimension, you're supposed to understand who you're fighting and how to beat them. The only reason people hate Nihilanth is because he looks like a giant baby.

I highly highly agree with your number 1 choice. I was blown away by Arkham Asylum and found it a near perfect experience all around except for that dreadful final boss fight, almost ruined the entire game for me. That said I think the "boss fights" from Arkham Knight were even worse to be honest, but the fights are so one-note I wouldn't even put them up for contention.

Verdugo is a bullet sponge and for some reason harder than Salazar who I killed with just a couple of Magnum bullets. According to magazines it was originally going to be a unique enemy like the Boys of Silence, but both got heavily changed along with the plot in the development hell that surrounded the game. Bioshock Infinite was disappointing for me, the ads showed it as an open-world-ish shooter like the first game but with less restrictions. Instead it became a linear shooter like Bioshock 2, but with a 2 gun restriction and an even more convoluted story. And Elizabeth's AI, my god...

Although true, her problem lies in how she was marketed at E3 as an intelligent, dynamic AI, but instead became a joke involving the punchline "Booker catch!" (plus all her actions on Battleship Beach are scripted and not independent of the player like what was said at E3). Although she is a nice companion, I expected more after the way Infinity Ward presented the game. And then there is the Lutice twins...er, duplicates. Ugh.

hey if you have played dragon age inquisition the last person (I forgot his name) you have to attack him 3 times right after another boss fight and fight him 3 times with multiple attacks there is ranged mode demon mode and close mode ranged you can't hit him he is on a ledge demon mode is combined with close and ranged lots of enemies close close ranged spells and sometimes melee also you have to beat him 3 times

Really, The Imprisoned from Skyward Sword was just too much story and not enough mechanics. If they really wanted to make it more mechanic based, make it similar to the Puppet Ganon from Wind Waker. Give him a different form for every fight but keep the same art style of the scales, flaming halo, and disappointing Mohawk. Imprisoned wouldn't be so bad if it was only one fight, so just make fights two and three a spider and a snake, paying homage to Gohma and Molgera. You could have it to where you have to stun the snake with Groose's canon or stun method of choice, then use the sealing grounds geysers to flip over the beast so you could expose the belly of the beast and attack it like beast Ganon from Twilight Princess. For the spider fight, keep the "toes" idea, except make them weak points on the legs. Attacking the weak points knocks the spider to lower levels. Goal is to knock the spider form to the bottom of the grounds to finishing blow it with the sealing spike.

Thing is, Xenoblade just isn't that kind of game. Xenoblade is built in such a way that any party is viable, considering he thought Melia was complicated, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get hang of the game's mechanics. Also he was only level 55. Edit: later there was footage where the party was level 78.

I think repeating portions of games can work, but it can't be repeated without change. There's nothing wrong with showing a particular enemy is a threat or (more rarely) that the enemy is growing right alongside you offscreen. The problem is so many games just launch the same battle at you over-and-over with little if any change and call it a day, and that's just lazy. I actually think the idea of a boss who grows stronger with time is an interesting idea, but too few companies have actually used this effectively by adding significantly different mechanics to the boss each time it appears.

Fun thing about Lorythia, is that at the point just before the battle, I noticed that I could fight some monsters that were way too leveled up compared to the other monsters from the initial areas, so I wanted to kill them in order to see what they drop, and I felt pretty rewarded from it, that I kept doing it in the other areas, so I was leveled enough so the battle wasn't that hard.

W4R-D3N from Borderlands 2, he spawns backup too fast, has only one area that can hurt him effectively that happens to be his backup spawn point, cannot be interrupted during his call backup phase, unlike his standard counterparts. I'll take the Destroyer from BL1 over that stupid robot, high health and a few attacks is fine by me.

Yeah, not a big fan of the Imprisoned. Those shockwaves are cheap as all fuck, and I cannot believe that they actually designed a boss where you are most likely going to be near its feet when it falls, then require you to go to its head, except that it blocks almost the entirety of the path! And you'll probably have to fight it even more times if you go for the Hylian Shield, at least if the RNG doesn't fuck you over. They brought it back for Hyrule Warriors, and while it is better there, on account of having a dodge move, wider reaching attacks (and just overall more dynamic combat), much wider terrain, the boss being smaller, and having more ways to deal with it (Focus Spirit), it's still probably the biggest pain in the ass in the game. It's stupid wiggling around causes damage in locations that are hard to predict and harder to avoid, and you just do so much waiting. Gotta wait for its fat lumbering ass to get up off the ground and finish shockwave spamming before I can wail away at its toes again. Silver may be the most infamous of Sonic '06's bosses, but I'd rather play fight him 3 times in a row than ever, EVER fight Iblis Phase 2 again. At least Silver's fight is short if you know what you're doing! Iblis Phase 2 is excruciating, from all of the sitting and waiting around, to the unpredictability of your homing attack, to the offscreen attacks, but most of all, and I mean most of all, THE CAMERA. Jesus Christ, it herks, it jerks, and it does everything you don't want it to do. It's given me a headache before, a real one! And you have to fight it as both Sonic and Shadow!

The giant wiggling toes that are destroyed when you hit them tend to grab your attention. And even then, as he said, it's RNG as to whether you'll be thrown the hell off at any moment.

+Superfield Maybe it is just me, but if I have the ability to get above a boss in a videogame I always do it to survey the situation. As for being thrown off I dont remember it ever happening to me. I think it is less random and more a case of not being fast enough at jamming that spike into its head. I will say though that during the boss rush for the Hylian Shield I almost always went for the toes because ones sword at this point was so powerful it took nearly no hits to bring them down.

Honestly, even if you don't do side quests, you should have been keeping your levels up to date before each boss fight, so that the boss's danger level each time is at least in the white zone! (Except for the final boss, who's danger level is red no matter what. Not going to spoil why)

Benny Boi I Haven't played 358/2 Days since it first came out, but why are you singling out Leechgrave? It seemed every boss in the game was tough (especially the final bosses), but I don't remember any bad battles.

Leechgrave was especially bad. It's placed after an already hard level (Fuck those ghosts that sap your health to 1HP) meaning by the time you reach it you have barely anything to fight it with.

Well... Y'see, when it comes to 358/2 Days, there's an unholy trinity of terrible bosses in that game! The Leechgrave, for being a huge difficulty spike and nearly impossible (Tentaclaws with ridiculous hitboxes and respawn to quickly, or poison gas. Pick your fricking poison!). Then there's the Ruler of the Sky, which is a long, tedious fight that consists of chasing the bugger down while it's constantly flying around and taking potshots at you, and then the Dustflier, for putting the worst designed superboss in the series at the end of a boss gauntlet, which is guaranteed to wear you down! Also holds the record for longest fight in the entire series, surpassing even the Ruler of the Sky.

I know a lot of people are gonna jump me with hate and death threats but.. I don't think Half Life was that great of a series :O It's not awful. Nor is it a masterpiece as everyone calls it. A lot of P.C. users love anything from Valve Software. That's another thing, Valva Software (LOL), NEGLECTS THIS SERIES SO BADLY. to the point it's a running gag in the gaming community. Ever since the creation of Steam i wanna say Valve stopped caring because they found a new way to make profit without effort. it's RARE when they put out a game now, like waiting for a full moon. Not to mention their recent failure.. *cough* EVOLVE *cough* The devs aside, I just don't really get Half Life and YES I've played it. FULLY. So don't say I never touched it so I can't judge it. You're entitled to like what you want and don't let me ruin it for you.

The Silver the Hedgehog fight practically deserves its own layer of hell it was so frustrating. No warning on his main attack, no delay, just if you come close you get caught and thrown into a wall. And it was easy to get stuck in a spot where he just spams this on you and you only regain control for .1 seconds before getting caught again. Guess you could say it was like watching a train wreck over and over and over...

At least you can dodge the shockwaves with the right timing, nail his toes with powered up arrows or use Fi's floaty as hell combos or Zant's ridiculous Area of Effect attacks to beat him.

***** Yeah, but the problem is that, even with all that, it's still a boring process since, unlike other bosses, it ALWAYS stands up if you knock his Weak point gauge by half. And then you have to wait for him to do that annoying as hell dash, followed by the shockwaves where he's invicible. He's one of those characters who isn't hard, but really, really tedious. And in my opinion a tedious character is always worse than a hard one.

Lorithea... FUCKING LORITHEA. I get angry if I literally just hear the name or see a picture of that boss. Xenoblade was fun, with a nice difficulty curve. But THAT FUCKING BOSS WILL NEVER BE FORGIVEN. I went the entire game without Mellia because her AI is awful and I wanted to play as Shulk (who also has questionable AI). But APPARENTLY I was supposed to play as her or be forced to spend a few hours grinding.

The first two/three phases in the last chapter of Uncharted isn't too bad as it tests your skills to be a sharp shooting, mostly without aiming and limited ammo. But yes, Navarro was a huge disappointment as half of it was Q.T.E.s :P Not to mention he was one of the guys second in command who betrays his boss and ended up becoming a boss out of nowhere.

Very nice video. I feel we have a sort of different criteria on what makes a boss bad sometimes but still interesting to see! I honestly cant even remember fighting Raven in MGS4, but I pretty well ran that game into the ground in terms of hours so most things got to be pretty simple for me.
