If you're watching any anime right now, I'd recommend Symphogear. It's one of the craziest original properties to come out of Japan over the last few decades. Think of it like this, A Kamen rider and a female sentai ranger have a baby that is incredibly hot blooded and is also a Pretty Cure. Said baby grows up on Super robot shows, Saint Seiya, YuGiOh, and their favorite game of all time is Asura's Wrath. Thats Symphogear in a nutshell.

It's one thing to be lazy, it's one thing to be incompetent, but it's another thing entirely to be just straight-up maliciously criminal. This game stole assets from all-over, though the one that was most heinous in my book was the fact they stole not only from first-party big-name AAA titles...but also from an artist's Deviantart. Just...wow...utterly shameless. NEVER steal from other artists! That's the QUICKEST way to drag your name through the mud in the community: nobody will EVER wanna work with you on commissions, trades, etc. Pay artists. Enough said. >:(

You remember Halo 3's trailers? I admit, I was sold on Halo 3 long before I saw the Beleive ads. It was a hyped game done right, but Bungie went all out, showing the drama of war, showing the events that took place decades after Halo 3; not spoiling too much, but discussing alien weapons in a museum and simply saying that Master Chief saved the world. They even made a 3D freeze frame trailer and it was packed with life, quite ironic for a deadly subject like war. Not that every trailer needs to be phenominal, but it is a clear example of how to make it compelling. Notice how it doesn't compare the bad guys to anime fans. Speaking of, an example of an ad campaign that isn't a trailer but is still almost as bad as Mighty Number 9, about a game that's almost as bad as Mighty Number 9. John Romero's Daikatana. I haven't watched Daikatana's trailer yet, but I can tell you the promo was insultingly vulgar. You know what I am talking about: "John Romero is going to make you his..." I think KZbin will censor that last word. With how bad Daikatana is, I think we can all tell who is the real b-

On the opposite side of the spectrum, you have stuff like the Destroy All Humans remake trailers. One thing I love about video game trailers is that they can potentially serve as mini music videos that set the tone for the game being represented. And when I heard that my childhood favorite playable villain was getting the Reignited treatment, the hype was on. But it wasn't enough to bring back Cryptosporidium and Orthopox (whom I did not know were named after medical conditions at the time) with much needed improvements. Instead they had to terrorize the 1950s with... Rammstein's Ich Will. Now doesn't that sound a little anachronistic? Then again, the Furon are a lot smarter than us, who's to say they weren't the ones who invented rock and roll so long before we did? It's a song that suits both Crypto and the zany situation he causes. He's up to his old tricks, despite this ironically being the updated first game. Dropping cows on farmers, hypnotizing people, and whipping out his lightning gun. It may not show the gameplay, but it sets the violent, absurd tone you'd probably be familir with if you grew up with the games. And with the sequel Make War not Love being a fan favorite sequel, THQ Nordic remade that too. And this time, we're all living in Amerika. The trailer is even more wild than the first game's. Instead of the trailer taking place in Roswell, Crypto is going around the world, crushing whole cars with his mind, abducting whole street blocks worth of people instead of one at a time, and even hypnotizing a kaiju, traveling from the Moon to Albion to Takoshima while rocking out to Rammstein once again. I cannot get enough of anachronistic bangers. If we get more babies like this, hopefully it'll be a Crash 4 It's About Time style continuation disregarding the crappy sequels. And when that happens, let's keep the tradition of rock on Rammstein classics going in the trailer.
