My wife and I have a house just outside of Tagaytay in Silang, Cavite. It's not in Silang Proper which is basically a city type of area. The housing costs about 30% less than actually living in Tagaytay from what I have seen. We only have about a 15 minute drive to get to Tagaytay. We're only about 6km from People's Park In The Sky but the drive is further than that. We have a great view of People's Park from our subdivision and sometimes it is very cloudy up there. I really like the area where we have our house but sometimes the traffic on Santa Rosa Tagaytay Road can be heavy but that's usually on major holidays where people are heading to Tagaytay. Other than those times traffic isn't bad. We have a gated community with a guardhouse and there's only one way in and one way out.

@@LookAtMe-C137 It's really nice where we have our house but what works for me might not work for others. Maybe looking into several different areas where you might be thinking about moving to and visiting those areas might give you some better ideas of where you want to call home in the Philippines. I just hope that you can find the right place where you can have most of everything that you are wanting. I can even give you the name of our subdivision where we have our house and you can just check it out to see how it fits your needs just to give you an idea. It might be a place that you like but then again it might not be what you want.

@@TheSavvyExpat My wife's side of the family found the place where we built our house. I had never been to where the house was built but I really enjoy the area there. I wouldn't suggest for anyone to do what we did but I have full trust of my wife's side of the family. I even went to the hospital in Laguna, which really seemed like a nice hospital, because after we flew from LAX to Manila in 2019 to see our new house my wife said that my left foot looked like it was swollen. I think that it happened from sitting too long on the plane. It's fine now but we didn't go to the hospital until about a week before Taal erupted and my checkup was scheduled on January 13, 2020 the day after the eruption so there weren't any jeepneys or any other transportation coming through so I never went back. Of course then the pandemic came so I never made it back there for my checkup. I stayed there for 10 months because my wife wanted to see how I liked living in the Philippines. She never thought that I would actually want to move to the Philippines but I I made some good friends where we live. So that's just a little bit of how my life was living in the Philippines.

"Taal is considered one of the " Decade Volcanoes" or 16 volcanoes identified by the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI) as being worthy of particular study in light of their history of large, destructive eruptions and proximity to densely populated areas. The only one of the 16 in the PI is Taal." The "Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Renato Solidum said the Tagaytay Ridge, despite being inside the 14-kilometer danger zone, is not considered a "high-risk"...

Awesome video. I love Tagatay. It is close to resources that l feel l would need. I also enjoy the weather. I also like Clark. Clark is very modern. Clark is clean and a real up and coming area. The "no traffic" is a great option. Antipolo is an introduction to me. An eye opener to say the least. The ok outdoor activities seems great. Thanks for sharing these great retirement areas. Great video as always!!!! Nice to see suggestions that aren't big cities like every other video has. I'd want to be some place away from the cities, but close enough to go on a day trip there, and some place with fewer ex-pats, nothing against them, but I'd be moving there to get away from all the western stuff, and immerse myself into learning about the Filipino culture, and best way to do that is with Filipino people. Unfortunately with each new video you do you give me more and more to think about, but nothing wrong with having options LOL. Hope you have a great day and look forward to your next video.

I live on the North side of Lipa City, basically identical weather to Tagaytay. My wife is from Taguig and it generally takes her about 75 minutes from there to our house in Summit Point.

Numerous coconut trees and several caribou to be seen, very serene and beautiful. My wife says driving is like being in the US until she goes out the gate. LOL

I just moved here 5 days ago with my family. My wife is from Montalban Rodriguez. We are settling in Antipolo City. I'm glad to see you chose it. It has always been a favorite place, as well as Tagaytay and Baguio, but Bagiuo is to far from Manila, and Tagaytay is too expensive

@@TheSavvyExpat The paved road made for a suitable and stress free trip to Tagaytay. On your way, you’re entertained by the sights of pineapple and coffee farms. It had a very r provincial feel with their fruit stands and meat stands along the road side and picnic huts too. In its main town, there were restaurants specializing in Beef Tapa and Bulalo, then you are rewarded with a breathtaking and panoramic view of the Taal Volcano one’s you get to the Taal Vista Hotel. It was always a very Sound of Music moment lol. The often foggy roads reminded you that you’re in Tagaytay, where the air is clean. I miss it!

I've lived in Antipolo for four years. We have a couple of properties in Forest Ridge and a couple elsewhere in the area. It is peaceful, has clement weather and has all one would desire from an urban environment in a more rural setting. Property prices are, however, increasing significantly, particularly as we approach a post-pandemic world when many people who work in Manila realise that it is a simple commute for a better quality of life.

@@apadora I also did research. The city is near a fault line but not directly on one. Antipolo is at less risk than Marakina, Manila, Quezon City and numerous other cities. It is, however, at no risk of experiencing a tsunami. Given the location of the Philippines itself, Antipolo is as safe, if not safer, than any other location.

I have a house in Metro Tagaytay. We are still in the US. Make sure you get a house away from proper Tagaytay about 14 kms away from Taal to spare you from the eruption danger zone. My area is very cool and beautiful, almost none to zero crime and our mayor is the best!

Great to hear you have met with some of your Patrons! Your videos give us a modern view of the Philippines. As I near retirement (still a bit of time away), I know that one day, I'll visit the country again. By way of disclosure, I was last in the Philippines when I was a Kid and my father was stationed at Subic Bay. It was a great adventure when I was a kid. What surprises me now is the advancements the country has made in the last 50 years. Yes, I know, it's not perfect and there is still a lot of poverty, but the country is an affordable destination to either visit or live. I would love to pick your brain some day with all of my questions. Keep those great videos coming as I like this alternative to all the "living in the Philippines with a young wife" videos I seem to see. I especially like the Makati/BGC area you have highlighted.

If limited to just driving reach of MM , I would add Lucban, Quezon. Green, lush & beautiful . If you’re a sea dweller perhaps Nasugbu area of Batangas . but TBH virtually all of Cavite and Batangas have become quite premium-priced now as compared to pre-pandemic.

way back 2008-9 Tagaytay has few establishment and way cooler than before and few traffics. Now gets warmer and has traffic. And Volcanic activity is unpredictable.

D Sumulong hiway from Marikina -Cainta to Antipolo is heavily traffic clogged . Wise not to buy property near or besides hilly area. Quite frequent landslides whenever torrential rains . Weather is cool in d evening , quiet serene but exercise due diligence prior to that. As for me I would prefer Tagaytay , though cost of living would b slightly higher . For those who loves cool evening /nite even normal days Tagaytay suits u. Good luck . Cheers🙏🙏♥️

Don’t forget about the traffic haha… there’s no way you can be in Tagaytay within 1,5 hour on a Friday for example 😂 btw there’s Medical City South Luzon in Santa Rosa which is about 30-45mins away from Tagaytay (depending on traffic) Great video again! Keep it up

I think that it will give you a good idea of knowing how you will like it there and if you would want to return again. You should go and enjoy yourself so you don't end up regretting not going.

I was in Tagaytay a year before smoke spewed up out of the volcano, later I saw pictures of it, it looked scary. Tagaytay is a beautiful place to live but anything could happen at any moment with the volcano. I would still like to visit this place. Best quality salabat (ginger) good for tea. Lol !!!

I prefer Metro Cebu, but not necessarily in one of the 3 independent cities, pretty much everything is here. I've been living here since 2007 and I've never had to go to Metro Manila for anything. I also like the Metro Davao area.

Maybe I'm a bit strange, but I'm wanting a bit LESS of the Western lifestyle. Antipolo sounds the nicest of those three to me, but I wouldn't mind hearing about which province is a common destination for expats. My wife just rolled her eyes at Pampanga, and she's got family that live in Angeles City. Tagaytay is a bit too close to Taal for my liking.

It's pretty easy to get out of the western lifestyle. Mostly the food and company you keep. Most expats seem to prefer anything besides filipino food and the company of filipino men. I recommend joining something like a rotary club or golf club to hang out with more locals. Also, there are neighborhoods like the casino district if you like chinese expats to hang out with.
