Top Thrill 2 Testing Update From Cedar Point

Racing to the finish line - Testing resumes on record-breaking Top Thrill 2 roller coaster
SANDUSKY, Ohio (March 21, 2024) - Cedar Point’s Top Thrill 2, the tallest and fastest triple-launch roller coaster in the world, continues its testing phase in advance of its May opening.
Engineers from the ride’s manufacturer, Zamperla, are programming the strata coaster’s fully automated ride sequence, fine tuning the linear synchronous motor launch system, testing rider safety systems and running the metallic silver train through its paces.
Soon, all three of Top Thrill 2’s 20-passenger trains will be programmed to operate together, followed by additional ride commissioning, safety testing and state licensing. Top Thrill 2 is set to open to the public on Cedar Point’s opening day, Saturday, May 4.

OG Dragster was the ride that got me into coasters back in 2013. Glad I get to add another ride to the collection of rides where I have been on both iterations! Also it looks like it even goes a smidge higher than the animation on that spike! Stoked for sure

Although the OG Top Thrill's acceleration is better, TT2 will probably be overall more enjoyable, reliable, and offer a higher throughput of riders per hour.

I am sure there is a package to do so. And do you recommend any sort of ride pass for this park?I usually don’t buy those because I hate skipping lines in front of people, but in this case, I might have to make an exception lol.

I noticed that too. Sometimes empty trains rattle a bit more due to not being weighed down as much. But it shouldn't be visibly noticeable on a ride like this.

@@FAFO4wisdom Intamin is the market leader when it comes to LSM systems. Their LSM coasters are very reliable. Zamperla has literally no experience with them. This is their first coaster using them. Also considering the disaster with reliability that the new Zamperla wild mouse was this past year at cedar point I don't have a lot of confidence in the new Top Thrill 2 being particularly reliable.

I agree the new track looks shaky and the old track is more smooth,seen the vid of the two lads riding it and it seems to confirm what you have said , there seems to be a little wobble when it hits the old track, but it does look great👍👍

Yeah judgement is still out, but original riders are going to be disappointed. If you rode the original you’re like waiting for the launch only to be slowly accelerated. The 1st run on the lsms doesn’t even get the train fully vertical. Riders never on the original will be thrilled on it, and I will be happy for them.
