Top tips for managing horses weight

I live in Quebec, Canada and our winters are really cold. I mean, REALLY cold like -40degrees ... Horses know how to be prepare for the changing seasons and in nature, they don't really wear rug ! My horses do pretty well in the winter, they just need a little house , water and food. But if you clip your horse, you should put a blanket on your horse because you take your horse's ability to manage his temperature...hope it helps !

I like the part about rugs or blankets: Only if they really need it. Their "thermostat" is high-end technology. Even in the rain the undercoat is most often dry. and warm. They adapt very well to cold weather and hot weather. (North-East Russia -50 C vs. Arabia +50 C). They will grow the coat they need and shed it when it's time.

i have a 15 year old mini horse, that has trouble keeping fat on, i feed 2 times daily and he has water and grass avalible at all times, he is wormed regularly as well. i have had his teeth looked at and they are in good shape to... what is the problem?
