Our hire company told us we could not take car over. We hired for one day over there but you must take you travel documents PASSPORT etc to be able to hire.

Cabrera Medina guys at the airport tell us "Just bring it back" when we ask them about taking a hire car over. We're regulars with them, though, and they recognise us when we pick up the car, so that might be make a difference.
