Thanks again guys. I'm an expat Victorian living in the Southwest of Western Australia. Just getting into trolling some local stocked impoundments. Bit warmer than what your fishing. Been playing around with attractors so appreciate your tips very much.

Very effective, especially in Dartmouth but is a method that works in any trout lake.

Great information guys. It is good to watch the videos and then go out and use the different techniques, even better when those techniques turn into fish in the boat.

Thanks for the kind comments, Clinton. Did you get up to Dart on the weekend?

Great talk again fellas. I look forward to your next video. Maybe something that you may want to discuss in a future video, is nets? Reason behind is l noted you maroon handle "frying pan" net. I recently had a couple of terrible experiences with such a net on consecutive days we caught two monster Browns in Eucumbene and as the net with the fish wholly on it the fish gave aa couple of flips and back in the water. It took some searching but eventually I found an enviro net which was deep. Maybe you would like to comment on this trend of net these days? On a forum l noticed a net (same as yours) the owner had bought a replacement net without handle and joined it to the existing net after removing the bottom making it now deep enough to hold a fish. Cheers

Hi, we have never had any problem with this net. However, I used an environet at Dartmouth once and never again! We found the fine mesh created way to much drag if you kept the boat moving while landing the fish, which we prefer so as not to create problems with the other rods getting tangled. You are right though, a net review would make a good future video. Cheers, Ross.

@@FishtalkVideo l have found the perfect net, nice long handle, light, deep & open mesh so to avoid drag. If l could somehow post an image here l would have, anyway it is made by SHIMANO. cheers boys 😊

Hi another great video I notice in the tackle box at 5:09 that all the hard body lures have the front trebles removed have you have replace the rears with hooks for better hook up rates, does removing the front treble lead to less snags or make the lure swim better or stop the front treble getting caught in the landing net ? Have you tried the dancing jack snelled hooks? If so do you found the different coloured tails make any difference?
@FishtalkVideo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the questions, hope I can answer them for you. We have been using lures with single or double opposing hooks for many years now, started when I saw trollers in NZ using singles. We have found no drop off in hook up rates, and they are much kinder to trout mouths when releasing fish. The front treble comes off because when trolling trout often slash the lure from the side, and a front treble can catch an eye or gill. We have not experienced balance problems from removing the front hooks. A single hook also is easier to remove from nets and carpet. We do use dancing jacks on tassies and also blades when redfin fishing, not sure that colour matters a lot.

Another great video full of useful tips, guys. Thanks. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on trolling speeds?? And thanks for your replies on the last video regarding boats. Ended up picking up a beaut 4.3 Quin Fishabout, like new. Pick it up this week. Great series, looking forward to more. Cheers PP

@@FishtalkVideo Thanks mate, quick q: Is their a marine radio network on freshwater lakes, similar to the coast? One that locals use on alpine lakes? Will google but nice to get steered in the right direction. Cheers PP

@@FishtalkVideo Ha ha. You can't complain about that! Apparently on Jindabyne you can use your mobile phone! Bit more digging but vhf is the new set up, apparently. I grew up fishing Eucumbene for many years but things have changed, have to dig deeper to see if it's worth worrying about. Funny how kids make you more cautious. Hope your luck holds out, touch wood! PP
