@LordVader.66 Жыл бұрын
@@danteschaffer1592 my experience is that the airlines are way more expensive to book directly with. Like a round trip to Honolulu was like 2k directly with Delta but was $800usd through Expedia.
@daviddesor Жыл бұрын
@@LordVader.66 But, if you have to change flights or anything, you are screwed with a third party vendor especially on the weekend. I have found, its better to book with the airlines, you never get upgraded with a third party.

In about 2005 you could still call to book a flight directly from the airport you wanted to fly from, there were actual people who's job it was to book flights via calls any time of day. I remember a nice person gave me the number for a cancelations only flights available. When I found out about that I felt like I had everything I needed to go anywhere I wanted, and save money while doing it. Now you're the nice person who his helping people get places for less, I thank you for this and wish you happy trails Bro!!

I rarely comment on videos but you trick about the VPN was by far the best. I was able to save literally $1000 by just changing locations… crazy. Thank you
@Hanon1136 ай бұрын
Did the vpn change your location to outside your country, or just another place inside your country? I was wondering if there’s a currency conversion fee because, for example, I’m in the US but then VPN changes my location to the UK and the prices show in pounds (£), so I have to make the purchase in £ but I only have US dollars ($) because I’m in the US. When I make the purchase, would the website charge me a currency conversion fee for paying in $?

When booking international flights , I find that booking a flight from one major city to another major city in another country is usually much higher in price than booking from a smaller city to another smaller city in another country then using the domestic flights in that country to get to your final destination , the reason for this is that some airlines don't have landing rights in major cities and it is often harder to fill all their seats when landing at a smaller city so they highly discount the fares to get more passengers on board . I have got fares for about 90% less using this strategy .

@@YouTooBeYou7 When you book flights with Ryanair you have to pay immediately. Price can be misleading as you have to pay extra for carry-on bags. I'm from the UK and their prices can be misleading. Also the airports they use are well away from the city in the destination name. The airlines are classed as "no frills".

As someone who has been working in the Reservations departament of at least 7 international airlines in the past 15 years, I do not recommend buying a ticket in other websites and currencies other than your own. Reason? It's a common practice for airlines to outsource their Reservations departments across several service providers and call centers. Not all the call centers are authorized to handle your booking depending on the country of booking, and you might need to spend in international phone calls to a specific country customer service call center. Yes, there may be options to use an email or chat, but the most immediate service and response is through a call. Also, depending on your form of payment billing address and country of booking, the system can flag your ticket for suspected fraud check, and you might find out only when you try to check in online, or worst, at the airport.

and airlines sometimes force you to check your bags. and I have had this happen, sometimes the actual final destination is international, and you must have a passport and tell border control you are headed to another country. that could set off other flags.

There are some great tips in the video but also some things to consider. First if you Skipleg too much an airline can ban you from any future flights! Second when you do a stopover you have to consider Visa and Covid restrictions if you're leaving the airport. Third. The cheap airlines are very carefully checking your carry on and if it's just a little bit too heavy or too big you pay a huge amount of money. Safe travels, guys!

Interesting tips, but what he's not taking into account is baggage. Lowcost airlines only let you take a backpack which is not feasible for everyone and many times it ends up costing the same when you add checked baggage. Also if you are checking luggage, you cannot use the stopover trick as the baggage goes to the end destination.
@larryhatcher89272 жыл бұрын
Understood......Checked baggage has gotten so expensive these days, I only carry a backpack and I will buy anything extra that I need when I get there. If push comes to shove and I were to buy something expensive that I want to keep.....I can always mail it back to me.

Checked baggage confuses me. Like if you do three stops, do the checked baggage have to be rechecked in yourself those three times or does the airline automatically do that for you?

You explained booking flights with a VPN the most comprehensively I've ever seen on KZbin. You also explained the other points extremely well AND all with examples, which helps greatly. A few years ago, I had a flight YVR-YYZ-YOW round trip and I decided last minute I wanted to stay in Toronto for a couple days, then I'd take a short train ride to Kingston and my sister would pick me up and we'd drive the hour to her house (SE of Ottawa). The agent told me I'd need to take the whole trip to Ottawa, because the airline might cancel my return booking if I wasn't on the last leg of the flight. In the end I took the whole flight then went to VIA RAIL and took a 4 hour train ride to Toronto. I don't remember why I didn't just change the booking (maybe it was expensive, not sure)

*Read this from an experienced airlines sales person.* One ways have traditionally been unreasonably expensive compared to return flights, so that is already a cost driver with little benefit unless you travel like the wind blows. I would strongly advise you to check travel policies for your destination before you book a one way ticket. Many countries require an itinerary showing when you’ll leave again before you’re allowed in. Very few “proper” (=non low cost) airlines will only sell seats on their own flights. Saying the opposite is complete nonsense! All major airlines participate in so-called codeshare programs where they will sell seats on their codeshare partners’ routes, both direct flights and flights with stop-overs. The latter, however, are rarely cheaper but can be. Finally, saving 30 dollars is absurd. I’d suggest you check very carefully what rate your credit card converts at - because googling the conversion will use a mid-rate which you are not getting. Hence you could end up paying more by following this advice. Mistake fares can easily last months but obviously not the insane mistakes. At one big airline I spotted what I thought was a mistake. Both my colleagues and my manager thought it was just the market price (matching competitors). It was only cleared when I asked a regional revenue manager who got all pale when I told him about the fare. He immediately grabbed the phone and had the error fixed. The only great advice I see is clearing your cookies or using a private browser window. The websites may work - I don’t know them.
