Great interview! As an African/ South African entrepreneur and businessman I relate to the comments and their VC investment strategy. There's a dearth of VC in SA, however, my attempts to raise capital from the US wasn't successful to date. The Canadian VC's, via the state initiatives such as the Canada Fund for Africa, had more success. They are on the right track..

Whats a metrix? Whats an eco system? Whats a top line? Whats the ethos of the eco system? Whats being thematic? Whats under the hood? What is a unicorn Whats a evadot? 🤣🤣🤣... Corporate talk has always been used to keep certain groups OUT and retain a perception of exclusivity. Complete turn off. Btw these Vc firms are not there to assist BLACK founders in Africa at all. 😊

I'll try to answer your questions.. A metric is what you gauge a company's health with such as sales. An Eco System is the field in which a company operates such as eCommerce, crypto, solar, digital marketing, etc. A topline is the Income Statement topline which: Sales Revenues. Under the hood is what a particular startup is working on, the solution it attempts to provide or the secret sauce. Thematic is an assumption or conception that a startup is trying to follow to address certain problem. This year's theme in AI is open source. Ebitda is an a accounting term on the Income Statement which is: Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization A Unicorn is a startup company whose valuation has reach a billion dollars Hope this helps. Please grab a book on starting a business or better yet take courses in a community college nearby if possible. Lots of KZbin channels provide good material as well. Good luck!
