Your reviews are fantastic, thanks. I am a new player and watched them all. Very much appreciated

The barrel is not thicker because of the double nickle plating. it's thicker simply because it's made thicker. and then afterwards it is also double nickle plated. And if it sounds "absolutely terrible" and does "a lot of screaching" you must have a damaged one (...or be incapable of playing it right, sorry :D).

American Whistler here who started on the Feadog D (original) long ago, and I must say because of their mass producing method, sometimes you do have to go through a few of them to find a good one by sending it back etc. I also found that once you find a good one, the Feadog's compared to others I've owned (though this could just be me) do take a bit of time getting acquainted with. Finally, they can be tunable if you tweak them and run the fipple under hot water to loosen the glue and replace it with say templon tape. Not as good a purchasing a tunable one, but hey it works :) Just found your channel and have been enjoying it greatly, keep up the good work.

In my opinion you're bang on about the Feadog Pro (pronounced 'fad-og' with a slender f). It's a stinker. It was my first whistle and so I thought its hysterical characteristics were a result of amateur inadequacies. I stuck with it until, frustrated, I took a punt on a Dixon Brass Trad. Problems solved, and progress immediate. I have occasionally gone back to the offending whistle to see if I was too harsh during my inexperience, but I actually feel it is worse than I was then aware of. What is the logic of buying multiple whistles of a certain brand until you get a 'good' one? You encourage the production of poor quality, and defeat the exercise of acquiring a cheap starter whistle. Not to mention the numbers of people discouraged from learning by poor examples of the instrument.

Wish you could do a review of Gary Humphrey's whistles. Maybe the "Stealth lll Silver Whistle Trad High D Narrow Bore. Would love to hear what you think of it. Also the SweetBrass High D by Chris Wall. By the way, John Sindt makes whistles now, and I'm sure you could get one from him pretty fast to the price of $180. Sure would like to hear your thoughts. Not long ago, his whistles was selling for up to $700. So my advice is, buy one now while you have the chance. I have one with Silver Tube and I love it. 💖🙏🌠✌

Hi I know I am a beginner but this whistle has problems I have been going back to my Clarke’s disappointing I paid 15.95

As I said in the video the whistle is a con. CutiePie (though I love watching her videos) may give it her endorsement I certainly don't. I always recommend the makers as mentioned Clarke, Tony Dixon and Timothy J Potter their whistles are much better quality hands down. My personal favourite is Tony Dixon.

If you're interested my next video is going to be a behind the scenes making of the Top Whistle show and there will be a question and answer Session at the end of it if you're interested in submitting a few questions for me to answer about anything i.e. the show, Whistles , propose other ideas for me to do etc. it would be marvellous . Just send me a comment in the comment box! I look forward to hearing from you.

Well, there goes YOUR Fedog endorsement deal 😄. Stephanie, AKA CutiePie, has a little bit different take. Why that is I'll leave for others to work out on their own 😉. I hope you don't think it's impertinent that I included, just for laughs, the link to her review below. IMHO yours is more realistic. I like my Becker and Timothy Potter whistles (again, thanks for turning me on to those. Sorry you chaps have to pay a little more to get them postage wise) better than I do that Feadog (thanks to cutiepie I gave one a go. Fortunately it was only a few bucks through hobgoblin music USA so no great loss. She was correct about the Chris Wall whistle though, so I'm one-for-one with her) Between the Becker and the Potter there's quite a price difference. But I like them both. However if anybody needs a quality starter whistle on the cheap, get a Becker. Yeah, he makes them out of PVC, but he does a damn good job of it. I love my High D and Alto G. And listen to David here. He knows his S, in a practical sense. I turned my interest to the classical flute the last couple of months. Thought I was going to be the next James Galway.... BIG, kind of pricey, mistake. I'm now turning back to the tin whistles and the Irish flute. I have a Walter Sweet Shannon model flute coming. Cheers y'all. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqWUn3yclJuhibs

I tried to dabble in the picolo with Tony Dixon and I was hopeless the flute is a different ball game altogether. Same for the guitar lol!

@@DavidCartmellDJCartmell well I just got a poly Shannon model keyless Irish flute , made by Walter Sweet, and it plays very nicely. I use the tin whistle as a piper would a practice chanter to get down the tune and the fingering and then switching to the flute the only thing I really have to think about, is my emboucher and breathing. And even then I have found that with this flute acquiring the embouchure is not all that difficult.
@DavidCartmellDJCartmell5 жыл бұрын
@@michaelrs8010my problem is achieving the embouchure with the Flute. A Whistle mouthpiece I find is a lot more straightforward I dare you to make a video of yourself playing some songs perhaps even making Irish Flute reviews I think that would be cool to do. What do you think?

@@DavidCartmellDJCartmell LOL. Putting myself that much out there on KZbin is not my thing. Plus I don't think that the relatively slow, unchallenging tunes (Amazing Grace, Skye Boat, Going Home, Shenandoah etc) I play would be that entertaining for anybody anyway.

@@DavidCartmellDJCartmell ,if you don't have a John Sindt whistle, I urge you to buy one directly from him. It cost a bit, but not $500-$800 as it was for awhile. From himself you pay, I think $180.00 + shipping for a High D. For me, it was worth it all. I bought an High D with a Sterling Silver tube. I also have an Bb and A. Just ordered one in C a week ago. It's my favorite whistles. For a cheaper whistle, the SweetBrass by Chris Wall is excellent.
@cheshirebowman44659 ай бұрын
Sounds to me that the people moaning about it don't really have an idear how to set a whistle up. I have 3 pro whistles and all play perfect and sound great. I do have whistles that cost over 10 times the price of a pro. For the money you pay its a great whistle. It's just non technical players moaning. There are people out there that cannot afford expensive whistles. Maybe if the people that are negative about the pro could help with technical setups. Or maybe you just don't know??
@msk-qp6fn4 жыл бұрын
As much it is screechy at times, it actually seems tolerable. I guess it's because you are playing it! As a beginner though, I should probably avoid it.
