His actual powers are the lasers and I'd count his spacial awareness/super trigonometry as well as it's pretty super human( even though it's more of a skill than a power) . He's also a very capable hand to hand combatant(Although he's no Black Widow, Wolverine, or Captain America), but again more of a "skill" not an actual power.

Don't forget he's a mutant tactician. Even in his youth he was an undefeated chess champion and when he sees a battlefield, he can accurately deduce the maneuvers of his opponents on a level that is like psychically predicting the battle's outcome. He's like the battle forecasters from 00 Gundam. That is a SICK ability! You've pretty much lost the battle as soon as you started fighting him.

What about Scott's ability to seduce telepaths? Jean, Madelyn, Psylocke, Emma Frost, and in a non-sexual way (I think) even Xavier and Sinister. I think that must be a subtle power. For example, telekinetic Psylocke has nooooo interest in Cyclops. The seemingly few telepaths who have encountered Scott and not fallen for him seem to be genetically related to him and may have some sort of immunity. Hmmmmm.

I'd been thinking about a rational for that as well. A fellow like Scott will exactly say and do what he thinks is right, no matter what. For a telepath, the lack of contradictions between thought and action would be as enticing as like staring into a crystal lake. At the same time a telepath could easily drown in that lake. Cyclops would probably be the ultimate obsessive compulsive. Every detail in his life would be planned, compartmentalized, analyzed; because of so much pressure on his shoulders from childhood, literally the survival of his species. That crystal lake would end up being an infinite maze of reflections in itself; like a hall of mirrors on a massive scale, with no doors out.

Cyclops has to have mutant neck muscles too as his optic blasts deal damage due to the 'force' they deliver, meaning that there should be some kind of whiplash effect each time he releases his blasts (I'm not up on the physics of it but something about actions having equal and opposite reactions or something like that). I did know about #9 and #4 though. Also, aren't hands connected by tissue rather than bone? Even normal weapons and people should be able to cut off one of Logan's hands, although you could argue that when his claws are extended that might be impossible...

My first introduction to X-Men was X-Factor in the mid 80s, so I have always been a Cyclops fan. I get the fact the teenagers are drawn the the rebellious Wolverine character, both I always thought he was a creepy guy, trying to steal another guys girl, always was with teenage girls(Shadowcat in the 80s, Jubilee in the 90s,) what would he have in common with them? But the writers keep shitting on Scott while Logans healing kept getting more powerful. So I never felt Clermont like Summers. But I would like to see someone do a version of X-Men with the original members just once so people can see a version without Wolverine and let others be the star.

You also missed that he's a master at hand-to-hand and once went hand to hand against Wolverine, and was actually winning (like, Wolverine's face got blown off) until they had to both turn their attention to other enemies.

Book " Science of the X-Men," Early 90's, Cyclops metabolize solar energy and bio chemical energy. They even broke it down to how much energy he gets from a piece of whole wheat toast with extra butter. Early 2000's, they turned it over to being " eye portals," for greater power out put. I think I like it better when they used solar energy and high cal snack bars. Random student, " Scot how can you drink dark chocolate syrup strait from the bottle ?" Scot, " It is one of my mutant powers."

Re: cutting adamantium, I always assumed that Scott cut off Logan's hand at the wrist joint, severing the tendons without actually cutting through the adamantium skeleton.

When visiting Muir Island in the Excalibur series they developed barriers able to withstand his PSI optic blast, but when trapped in a blast proof room, he concentrated his blast into a minuscule cutter that cut through like a plasma cutter. As well as maneuvering in weightlessness using the blast as a burst thruster. It's his experience this is the most dangerous.

I like Cyclops. I always thought his OPTIC BLAST power was cool! That said, I don't want to sound nerdier than the Nerds but leadership is not a power but a skill and his visor is a tool not a power (as far as I know and understand).I did learn a few things, though. Maybe that's MY superpower!

Didn't know about the web shooter esque pressure sensitive gloves. Makes as much sense as Iron Man's hands free control over his suit.

I think Professor X chose those powerful mutants that had a natural defense to psychic attacks, that would ultimately grow with training.

The movies almost disrespected his character the most, but the comics actually did. I didn't like them making him unfaithful to Jean in later comics. Just such a departure from his character. It just wasn't Scott.

I'm pretty sure that Cyclops cut Weapon Xs hand off at the wrist, meaning no metal. It is firm that the claws were retracted, but given the number of times they fought and the fact that in that same universe Cyclops later could not cut Weapon X down, it would have had to been at the joint. Which begs the question why he didnt do it again in later encounters

And severely underused and routinely disrespected. But then, that's modern Marvel. Constructing sympathy for while stealing the stories of minorities, but then simultaneously leaving them out or completely sabotaging them. (Storm, anyone?) I especially like how Marvel goes out of their way, in Forge's bio, to clarify that Forge is no genius on the level of Tony Stark or Reed Richards because these great white guys do all their own thinking and Forge just let's his mutant powers do all his thinking for him.

WHY is forge not been protrayed in the movies yet? Forge’s power was he could build ANYTHING he built the time machine that sent bishop back in time. I loved his portrayal in X-men evolution where his actual limbs turned into whatever tool he needed at that time. Very underrated character.

In the Ultimate line, His power was enhanced and his energy came out of every pore in his skin. He could do a lot of thing including fly and survive in space for some reason. I always wondered why it just came form his eyes, While his brother can project it form his hands and feet as well....

In the 616-universe it was mentioned that Cyclops can NOT control his powers because he hit his head after a fall from a plane and got a head injury. I think it was the arc where his father was abducted by some aliens.

He's also supposed to have the ability to instinctually be aware of his surroundings, as vaguely shown in the Wolverine movie. When he escapes lock up with Emma Frost and the other captives, he says 'the exit is this way, trust me', even though he was blindfolded.

it was the left hand that he severed off and he didn't cut through adamantium, it cut through the cartilage and such that holds your wrist together because Weapon X still had the adamantium claws,

The claws were popped out being used. Logan capped off the hand and later discovered he regrew the claws and regrew the Adamantium since it was organic Adamantium now due to his mutation...

When it comes to the X-men, my favorite is Colossus, following him would be Wolverine, then Cyclops. When I was a young boy in the 90's, I loved seeing these guys on TV.
