Symptoms of a bad accelerator pedal position sensor. In this video you will learn the function of a APP sensors, why it fails and signs of it failing such as check engine light, codes and acceleration issue. I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado with a reduced power warning on the gauge system window. The code is P2120 throttle pedal/ position sensor/ circuit switch D. Would this fix the code it's throwing out? Thank you for your time and advice. I really don't want to take it to the shop, if it can be fixed at home. It's gone numerous times to the shop already, although it's never had issues in it's younger days. Now that it's older with 200,000 plus miles I love this trucks, the sound of it's engine. Recently replaced the transmission lines and an oil pressure sensor done by the repair shop. Now it has this code and before the code came up, while driving it, it would feel kinda rough shifting as I drove it. Thank you for any advice you can share.

How can you tell if it's the tps that is bad or the app sensor. P0120 code says it's one of them. How do I know which?

Would you be able on a Deisel motor that the pedal has cable that move the top of the injector pump, would that tell you if it's the pedal sensors. Right now I can't throttle the motor up with the pedal or where the pedal cable moves the injector pump throttle position, so no rev with pedal and no rev at the motor where the cable is hooked up. I guess my question is if the pedal doesn't work should it work at the cable point on the injector when you move it by hand, thank you for your time, iv got a old 1993 nissan ud 1300 turbo series dump truck with the tb42t diesel motor

I have a 03 Silverado 1500HD would the APP sensor cause the engine to stay running when ya disconnect the MAS air flow connector?? I just put a new mass airflow sensor on my truck and it’s still doing the same thing to wear when I disconnect the wire to the mass airflow sensor the engine stays running?

Unlike other comments, my concern is the opposite. 2009 Matrix/Corolla the pedal is very sensitive from a stop. A slight depression of the pedal causes motor to react like I pressed halfway. You have to be very carful not to have "jack rabbit starts". APP sensor?

Does close loop affected by PPS? Close loop jump into open loop if I keep out my feet of gas pedal while drive at 50 MPH or more. Close loop again until I press gas pedal or let itself reduce speed around 30 mph or less. Any clue?

Hi sir my truck is 18 weller frhatliner cascadia there is no disel when I need too push it in my foot no disel power only when torn off the engine couple of times and then the check engine light off and drive normal when I park over night the next day same problem and do same what I did before that's day is that's the same problem what you talk about and thank you

On GM vehicles, a "Reduced Engine Power" or "Engine Power is Reduced" warning on the information panel of your gauges will pop-up. On early 2000s GM vehicles, a lot of time it was in the wiring going into the TPS. It's an orange (I believe because have colorblindness) wire that breaks.

2010 Nissan altima 2.5 engine. Changed timing chain, new air filter, all 4 coil pks, all new spark plugs. It helped my car gain more speed, but still, when i go up a long hill, i have the gas pedal all way to the floor board and i have to use the automatic shifter because if i let it go over 3100 rpm, it goes into limp mode. Nobody can tell me whats wrong with it. Im lost ! Can you please provide any information that might help me know what is going on. It dont cut off when this happens, but throws codes up like slip, and o God, alot of codes, i pull over on sude of road, cut the car off, then i start it back up and all codes are cleared out. And has no check engine light on, ( tire sensor light has been on since i bought the car. But please, can you give me any reasons my car is acting like this.. Thank you, Sir 😢

Today my 05 lexus rx330. Driving on the hwy @ 45mph. I kinda floored the gas pedal to quickly accelerate the car to pass another car, my car jerked then the engine, vsr track, off track light came on. The gas pedal felt dead, the car was slowing down, could not accelerate, I had to pull over on the side of the hwy to stop. I turned off the car & waited a few minutes. I started up the car & it was normal but the engine lights was still on. So I drove home. Code reading was P2112 throttle body stuck??? Thanks for this video. Ill replace tps & app sensors.

hey I like your videos, I have a question ? I have a 2008 ford f250 v-10 and when I come to low speeds for instance stopping at a red light sometimes my vehicle will unexspectly want to go by itself unintended acceleration and I have to cycle my key off a few times before it goes to normal I did change the foot pedal and brand new throttle body with both new acc sensor and the other sensor and the same thing keep happening so I keep reading up on this situation and I did the relearn procedure by taken the negative battery off and discharging the capacitors from the ecm so far 2nd day now it seem to hopefully our the trick but it scary when you truck wants to go and you have your foot on the brake and it rev real high I think in about 60mp range ant suggestion would be helpful thanks again?

If i floor my rav4 it doesn't accelerate for nothing... but as soon as i start letting off of it at a certain point it starts speeding up. very jerky as well, i used the odb2 dealio and it said the car was at %17 throttle not pressing it at all... idk if that's normal but i pushed it all the way down and pretty sure it was at about %60. ordering one now, i thought it was the entire pedal as well? i guess not based on this video

What would cause my truck to have an irratic pedal issue? When accelerating, if i floor it, the truck will act like im at half throttle, ill feather it back just a tad, and it will get all its torque back. Basically most of the time i have to find the sweet spot just to have all my horsepower there. I KNOW its somewhere between the pedal and the throttle body. No codes though. Is there a way to calibrate the sensor? Ive tried the usual "key on engine off, slowly push pedal to the floor, hold 10 seconds, slowly let off, key off", and tried the same thing without the slow press and depress. Would a worn contact point at the floored position give the throttle body a wrong voltage reading, causing it to think im only at half throttle? Having no code is where i get annoyed lol

This happened to me all of it.. i disconnected the wiring to app senson and put wire in each o to clean anythinf in the out and have neen driving 80 miles since. I reseet check engine light and its not back on.. if it was the sensor wouldnt the check engine light come right back on immediately. There isn't a way i could be driving all these miles now if they sensor and pedal need to be replaced without a check engine light still an i correct?

Oh man.. that sounds like my car. I bought a second hand car and realised my car doesn't have the original accelerator pedal/TPS anymore. It's from a Hilux (I have a Hiace). Same engine, different parts number. Could that be a problem, or the TPS is just f****d? Thanks for the video!

Get the code you need to see i in the scanner what the code is there's 2 possibilities usually it's the gas pedal go OEM aftermarket will go bad after awhile and check the wires i in the ECU by the battery the connector sometimes gets very dirty and gets corresive clean then with electrical cleaner make sure u disconnect both terminals on the battery also

I know this because I delt with this problem 2011 maxima I replaced throttle body and the gas pedal after 3 years the pedal went out again but I had warranty with auto zone but I recommend OEM

I have yr 2000 Mercedes E55 and it seems like it doesn't want to go faster than 55 mph, my cheap scanner says pedal sensor code P1542, im gonna take it to a Mercedes shop because i will just make things worse.

My 2015 chrysler 300 3.6 doesn't want to turn over, I have P0123 and P0222, I put a new throttle body but nothing. I used a scanner and appD is at 8.2 and appE is at 3.9. When I step on it both D sits at 91.4 and E at 45.5. Can anybody help!!!!

Change the gas pedal to did it to my Maxima also clean the throttle body for good measure. You should get a code and limp mode if it says in the code accelerator circuit to high a/b

Perhaps,…. I had a no start on a Subaru 2008 Impreza n/a) and a newer used APP sensor started it right up,… ( even thou it had a very rough idle) but once I gave it gas , it shut off ( double checking throttle body soon)

Limp mode, a safety feature meant to help you get to the mechanic? Bro I almost died today because it randomly kicked on while I was on the highway. Pedal, throttle body, sensors all replaced and inspected in the past 4 months.

@@MMAsFather Shop found it to be a faulty wire running between the throttle body and accelerator. $240 to replace/fix and haven’t had any issues since. Edit: I made the original comment while I was stranded on the highway with the issue. Towed to a shop and fixed within 4 hours.
