I had a 12' diameter aspen tree about 35' tall leaning toward my house. I watched several of your videos and tossed and turned a few nights before attempting this topple myself. On Father's Day my son helped me and despite a stiff breeze the wrong direction we were able to drop the tree within a foot of target using what I learned from you. Keep up the good work!

Well explained. After watching Buckn’ Billy, I still have no clue as to what he’s talking about with felling a tree. He useses so many slang words you can’t decipher what he means. Thank you for putting this video together 🙏

I totally agree with your assessment of Buckn’ Billy, yes, he is definitely good, but you’re none the wiser because of ‘slang terms’.

Bucking Billy ray is actually a very skilled cutter ,I do like his clips ,after 35 years cutting myself I have seen him do some really good cuts and I have taken something from his clips and absorbed. I'm sorry but I don't rate this teacher although I can see many do . Go figure ?

So the purpose of the hinge is to try and hold together the holding wood to the point of it not snapping at point of fall, but to use the fibers in the hinges to pull apart?… love this channel

Hey I have trees in a long windbreak with branches that are dead half-way up. Some of them are in really bad shape and the whole tree needs to be cut down, others look still quite healthy but I’d really like to get rid of those dead branches that look so sketchy. For the trees I do want to just cut down, I can’t even get close enough to the base of the trees to cut them down, because there’s a ton of deadfall all throughout the windbreak. I would love to get any suggestions or cautions in dealing with this, fully understanding you can’t make any guarantees - this is the internet. I guess my questions are as follows: I would love to get in underneath the trees and clear out all the deadfall on the ground. (This would also provide access to the trunks of the trees to cut them later). Chip it up in a wood-chipper. However, there are dead branches above. Is there a way to tell if a branch will fall at any moment, or if it’s more securely attached? How does one evaluate how tall a tree is or how high a branch is? Do you just eyeball it? Is there a way to *safely* cut off a dead branch that is 20-30 feet in the air? How do you evaluate whether a tree is dead at the bottom of the trunk or not, as I’m watching videos that say a dead or dying tree is more dangerous to cut down. We might just end up hiring professionals to cut the trees down but I suspect it would cost a lot less if we could get that deadwood out first so it’s actually accessible. But I also want to be safe.

I've been using conventional cuts for years . I always do my back cut about 2 inches above bottom cut of face cut. You do it level with face cut ? Can you explain why?

Please clarify...when you made the 3 vertical hinges on the one side and a bore cut on the other side, is that somewhat similar to making a siswheel cut on the initial wedge cut,in order to direct the fall of your tree?

If it hasn't been started recently (cold start), have power switch on.. switch lever to choke and press primer bulb a few time... pull start cord until she pops... then turn off choke and pull again.

Still don't understand what a triple hinge is.
@wizardsuth
@wizardsuth Жыл бұрын
He created the triple hinge by making vertical cuts on one side (5:25). It lengthens the time interval during which the hinges break, making so they hold longer and more strongly, and are more likely to pull on the fibres than snap off. The tree is pulled toward the triple hinge. He did this because the tree was rotten on the left side, so there was less holding wood there, and he needed the tree to go left to avoid hitting the building.

Assessing how a tree will fall and what dangers to expect is well worth the extra time. You don't gain anything by felling trees onto buildings, fences, and power lines, or by putting yourself in the hospital or the morgue.
