I'm from Minnesota and this bridge collapse was devastating and truly shook everyone to their core. Virtually any Minnesotan around the Twin Cities has a story about them or their friends/loved ones being near the bridge when it collapsed. My uncle is was driving off the bridge just seconds before it collapsed. In some photos you can see his car. This bridge was insanely busy and a common route people took to work. It was a very scary day.

Never thought I'd hear about the 35W collapse on here! I live literally a mile from it (University of Minnesota, East Bank) and every time I pass over it I'm reminded of what happened. I was just a kid when it happened.

"The new bridge was designed ... to resemble the old bridge as much as possible ... however the memories of that accident remain to this day" - is that so surprising since the bridge LOOKS THE SAME?!

Not sure it this totally fits the theme but the Tasman Bridge disaster in Hobart, Australia resulted in the bridge needing to be rebuilt as it was a key connection in the city. A zinc ship hit a pylon and sank to the bottom of the Derwent River causing the middle sections of the bridge to collapse into the water, and damaging the riverbed so they couldn’t put a replacement pylon in the same spot. They used ferries to get across the river until the new bridge was completed.

11:03 The building at 200 East Randolph Street, Chicago was built in 1973 as The Standard Oil Building. It was first renamed to the Amoco in 1985, and then again to the AON Center in 1998. To Chicagoan's it will always be the Standard Oil Building!

Ottawa, ON Canada. O-train light rail commuter system. Project ongoing. Already cursed with line closures, minor derailments, equipment failures, exceeding cost, time extensions. Brand new system already fraught with partial line shut downs and loss of service intermittently. Considering how small the lines are in comparison to most other rail lines. It seems doomed to fail
