Thank you so much for 1,000,000 subscribers! 💛 After being on KZbin for over 8 years now, this is the biggest milestone for Luis, Regis, and me (Freddy) so far! In case you didn't know: While Regis is the person you see in the videos, there is also a large team working behind the scenes researching and editing the videos. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to also thank our team members Allen, Hugh, Lidia, Daniel, Robert, Bhagirath, Dhruv, Francesco, Simon, Jackson, Dimitar, and Lukas for their excellent work! 😄 We are so thankful for all your support over the years and look forward to the years to come :)

My first assessment of building tall status is that its a waste of man-power and resources. But then again if your country has the tallest status in the world, it would become a tourist hotspot, increasing the nations earnings in the long run.

I'd like to clarify that the statue of unity was built to honour Mr. Patel for his acts after independence of India after 1947 He is referred to as 'Iron Man Of India' bcz he unified many(hundreds) princely states that would have ootherwise seceded. Hence Statue of Unity Nothing to do with any sort of pre independence struggle

He should've been the first PM. Was a far superior leader to Nehru but Nehru was Gandhi's favorite. It goes to show that inspirational leaders (Gandhi) aren't necessarily good leaders. It just cost India 50 years to finally dig out of the morass of the Nehru dynasty

@@gauravshukla71 Please read the whole story don't sell half baked knowledge . He was one of the PM candidate. But The reason he wasn't chosen, Our country got independence in 1947 ,country was in the poorest state u can imagine . We needed a long term leadership because change in leadership leads to many problems as everyone has different thinking. Sardar Patel was aged man if not old .Therefore he wouldn't have been able to lead the country for long time .And it happened we lost our great leader in 1950 just after 3 years of independence .Just tell me what would have happened if he had been made the PM . We wouldn't have had a PM just after 3 yrs of independence giving a great chance for our neighbour terrorist to attack and us . Most of the (if not every) decisions made by our ancestors were good and for the country and not like patel wasn't given his credits .He was the first Home Minister of our country (as amit shah is now) .Do u find that its a lower post to be HM ?

@@TejasAmrutkar-qz8rg I get the longevity argument. However having continuity is not the same loss as Nehru's mistakes. He turned down a UN Security Council seat. Huge blunder. He stopped at the LOC. Honestly it's extremely heartening that the tallest statue in the world isn't of some ambiguous abstract deity but instead of a real life human being who dedicated his life towards not greatness but instead goodness, the fact that it was a real person sends a message that we too can strive to achieve such goodness and progress if not on a global scale at least in our own lives. I think the statue of Unity is a very fitting name. It's also one of the status that doesn't cheat the height record by using some long skinny sword or umbrella to achieve it's tallest point

@@HarleyLuna31 not exactly, but kalyug is lowest or worst among other yugas (yug). People become mean and selfish in Kalyug which causes clashes. Kalyug started when Krishna went from earth after leaving his human incarnation behind. But don't worry, yugas (yug) are so big time cycles. They based on divine years. Each yugas includes hundred thousands of years if we calculate divine years according to human years. Every yuga teaches way of life and how to survive in different era accordingly.

You can ask anything which you want to know or have curiosity, I will try to answer in best possible way. Btw, did you know that in Hinduism, the exact distance between earth to sun is already mentioned in Hanuman chalisa before any scientific discovery. And Do you know that Hinduism have concept of multiverse as well, at which now scientists started researching for multiverse theories. Krishna (Vishnu) is the source of all multiverses.

Hello India. 😊. What I genuinely wish to know is if it's actually good art. I am being genuine. I'm an art historian, but not a specialist in Indian art history (but I certainly know the major Maurya, Gupta, Chola, Delhi Sultanate, Mughal sites). The colossal sculpture has a long history, but it was never really an Indian thing. Colossal Buddha sculptures exist in Asia. Colossal portraits of political figures were popular in ancient Rome. So to me, this sculpture might have an important Indian sculpture matter but seems very out of place in India - visually, stylistically. I would have preferred a colossal column at this size - referring back to Ashoka's columns and more impressive than the Qutb (that could make the Hindu nationalists happy, at least.) These collosal figural statues have only two traditional histories - dictators and buddhas. And the Indian example really isn't shaped to look like either in any way. I think it might send the wrong message

Almost every home has some figurines in them why shouldn't a city or country have some. Many locals like them too and it gives the same feeling of pride for your home. Tourism is mainly a byproduct. Ask these same people (if they are American) if they would sign a petition to give the statue of liberty back to France and build homes for the homeless in its place. I think they are just sad that not a single one on the list was American made. $140 million? That's like 3 superbowl commercials.
