Just started building my J. I've got the standard 'PJ Sails' sails coming. However I am fitting a ball raced gooseneck which should hopefully improve the low wind preformance.

Sounds nifty, the low wind performance is pretty remarkable already to be honest but will give that setup a look.

@@WestburyDF65races-fb1bf I should have read your comments more carefully, I now see that the ballraced gooseneck will not help with the genoa flipping across; does this need a ligher genoa in your opinion?

ps - the reason I opted for the ballraced gooseneck was visual appearance, I sourced one with a thin tube that fits around the mast and imo, much neater than the screwed on fittings normally used. So I'm searching for benefits to justify the extra cost😃

@@StuartMunro-y3x My first Genoa was 75 gsm reinforced scrim, lovely but VERY stiff and a complete sod if it didn't invert before tacking....it would not pass the spreaders.... REALLY dull! Fine in a decent blow though. The new sails are 75 gsm mylar film and the Genoa is flexible enough to NOT get hung up on the spreaders, perfect. Rick's sails are 50gsm mylar and seem almost the same.

Yep, but every now and then it does come from one consistent direction : )
