Yes Paint Distortion and Orange peel are the same thing.. both terms relate to the highs and lows in the clear coat of modern paintwork. Manufacturers production line in best cases allow 20min of refining paintwork, they would usually sand area's of paint defects i.e. blemishes, lacquer drips and painting imperfections. With every new Ferrari that we detail paint distortion is present unless its a special edition colour then its reduced significantly. Thanks for your post!

Are Paint Distortion and Orange Peel the same thing? I always thought that high-end car manufacturers wet-sanded cars at the factory to remove this (Ferrari are notorious for leaving behind sanding marks and holograms on brand new cars). Is the California different because it is a more 'mass' produced car than the 458 and 599? Mainstream robot painted cars have this problem usually, I've never seen it on an exotic like the California before. It was a stunning transformation, great work!

little do you know . Ferrari uses a ceramic clear and yes has a bit of texure but its main purpose is to be durable it contains nano resins in the clear witch rise to the top during a bake cycle . Once you sand off you void warranty and will not be as scratch resistant as it is ment to be there is a good reason why Ferrari does not cut and buff

@MisterBitex Yes the paint is a bit rough. If you look close enough, the paint almost looks like the peel/skin of an orange or a lemon... They didnt show the process but the first step requires Sanding and then they reapply the wax to smooth it out for a showroom finish.

waste of time sure it looks good . but these come with ceramic clear which you have now altered by flattening and buffing
