Good video - thanks. I asked my Triumph dealer for a new crankcase drain bolt washer. They said to use the old one as they never replace the washer! Another example of why it’s good to do your own maintenance 👍

Thanks for the great video. I need to remove the radiator on my Tiger 1050 to get access to the exhaust bolts. Watching this the whole drain/refill seems very easy, but reading the Haynes manual made it sound much harder than it actually is.

Great video, thanks for your details about how to remove and to exchange water cooling. Good job. I'll use it to exchange water cooling my bike Triumph Sprint 1050.

Great video, thanks. I like to measure the volume of coolant drained, including from the reservoir, about 2 litres, so I can ensure the correct amount goes back in. Also, rather than just pulling the hose to remove it from the water pump, it's usually easier to push it off with the tip of a large flat screwdriver applied sideways to the edge of the hose in a couple of places while also pulling it. Good tip about about using compressor to blow out another 1/2 litre. IanB

I’m enjoying working my way through your videos. I have a Speed Triple 1050 S, Triumph recommend HD4X Hybrid OAT Coolant for use in all liquid cooled Triumph Motorcycles, regardless of age, it’s green as per what you flushed out. Thought I’d share! 😁👍

@@notamotorbikemechanic sorry im just asking are there many differences between 2012 and 2016 speed triple.

I had a 2014/15 triple, and when the spec changed in 2016, it was supposed to be 'all new' But personally I found it very similar.

My advice is to replace any spring clamps on every hose connection, with stainless steel worm screw clamps, for safety reasons, they’ll never fail. A hot hose that might separate, will scar you badly. My ‘05 model came stock with them, but now Triumph cut that corner with newer models, don’t accept this shortcoming, replace them.

Hey another great informative step by step video. Need to change my coolant now ..do you know what size copper crush washer is in the crank case you have to replace? Need to get one before I empty my coolant. Thanks in advance
@notamotorbikemechanic4 жыл бұрын
Hi sorry I can’t remember, the best thing to do is, buy a box of assorted washer off the internet. You will always have a selection of washers at hand, and in the long run it’s probably cheaper than buying individual....especially from your main dealer
@xresp14053 жыл бұрын
Have you replaced the o- rings of the thermostat and the water pump? My Tiger Sport has been leaking from both places. I never had issues with coolant leaks on any motorcycle, I bought the Tiger new on 2015 and I replaced the coolant on 2017 and 2019, Im using a long lasting coolant now, it indicates 5 years of using or 240,000 kilometers to be replaced.

Hi, no I’ve not replaced them, I have on my ZX10 (quite easy) Yes modern coolant is good for 5 years 👍🏻

Recently I've changed my coolant fluid in 765 2020 and radiator screw was also missing. That's interesting from Triumph... Should I ask dealer and buy one?
@notamotorbikemechanic11 ай бұрын
Was that a mounting screw? I guess you should replace it, incase rad falls off👍

@@notamotorbikemechanic Nope, just very small radiator's cap screw which was missing. You also do not have it in this video and noticed it.

Hi I've got the 2017 tiger sport 1050, they don't sell service manuals for them. Just available online (I can't get my head round that) I wish I could but a physical service manual, anyway I just wondered if you filled the system totally with coolant or did you dilute with deionised water? Thanks
@notamotorbikemechanic2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I can't remember. I bought undiluted coolant, and if I remember rightly added the correct amount of coolant, then topped up with deionized water. It will mix itself 👍

I just came back from a trip of 3000km through France . My 2016 Tiger Sport 1050 did great. The temp bars were OK all the time and the fan only kikked in at standstill in towns ( hot weather) But I once had the overflow tank spit out coolant at high altitude in the Alps ( where there was still everlasting snow present ). We stood still, looking at the views, temperature bars were normal not higher than otherwise, fan just kikked in , but the coolant partly spit out . Enough to be worried but not all of course. I found that strange because last year at high altitude in the pyreneees, I had the same problem with my 2010 street triple. But then I got air trapped in the system. This time with the Tiger, I could just continue and I had no problems on the trip anymore. (and we rode hard) . When cool ,coolant sits just above MIN in the tank. When hot it rises just under High. Is this normal??? I am planning to change coolant anyway next weekend. Anyway, I am sure that the high altitude has something to do with it, but it shouldn't do that I Guess
@notamotorbikemechanic Жыл бұрын
Hmm can't say I'm an expert on the subject, but as you said it was a one off. So I'd assume the altitude was a factor, I'd change coolant as planned. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
@IB-hn5ce3 жыл бұрын
I just changed the coolant in my new 2020RS. Bike is new but was built 2 years ago in Dec 2019, so I'm changing it so it's new too. Just another hint: if you have compressed air, as well as applying it to the radiator filler to blow out another few hundred ml, use it on the reservoir to blow out whatever there has not run into the radiator already. My reservoir didn't drain at all until I did that. Without compressed air you could probably use some hose and your lungs to do the same. The owners manual says the factory filled HOAT coolant is green, but mine was blue. IanB

Hi, do you have to bleed air from the system? Did you run it with the radiator bleed screw loosened for a bit?
@notamotorbikemechanic4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, no by filling slowly, I didn't find any issues with trapped air. You could give the rubber pipes a squeeze to expel any air, the run it up to normal temperature. Then recheck coolest level.

What about the flush? My system is a bit dirty (don't think the previous owner changed in a quite some time and it's rusty - or at least I hope so else I may have a blown head gasket) so I need to flush the system quite a bit. Any recommendations?
@notamotorbikemechanic5 жыл бұрын
This bike didn’t need a flush, as it’s very low mileage. If you want to flush your bike, I guess just water will do. It’s a good idea to use something like a small leaf blower or bike dryer to blow all the water out of the system. You be surprised how much water is left in the system after draining.
